From an Artist perspective, from a fans perspective, label's/ marketing rep, Hip Hop perspective, etc. etc. Drop some knowledge on what 'Gangster' Rap does.

This brand of Hip Hop has been around for a long time, since the foundation of the culture ( N.W.A, Ice-T, Kool G Rap) and still remains part of the most popular rappers act (i.e Lil Wayne, Wacka Flocka). But what are the benefits and/or consequences?

The PROS are that it provides a musical outlet for a segment of society that might not get a chance to voice it's opinion.

Also, for better or worse, we have gotten a chance to listen to some unforgettable songs that carry a lot of meaning for us individually.

The CONS are that the music is socially irresponsible. Mostly because they stress the realness of their music and themselves but when critics question the musics effects on society the artists compare their music to works of fiction like action movies, and themselves to actors.

The music itself is marketed to the youth, and even MC Ren of NWA when he compared the song content of "Parents Just Don't Understand" to that of his group's, and why a kid couldn't relate to Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff.
I remember BET Rap City and CMC music channel (waaaaay back when 2pac was alive) would come on right after school.

The labels have the same responsibility that they ignore because they should weigh the outcomes of what kind of music they produce against their own profits. Of course it's hard to decide what's morally responsible. Should we not be allowed to here all voices and opinions, no matter how much we disagree with them?
But when money is you're only reason for giving that voice a larger audience, any additional reasons based upon artistic expression or social enlightenment are put into question.

Pros: some of the best rhymers in history do it and all of my top 5 is gangster rappers.

Cons: not much subjects to rap about so can get kind of repetitive which is probably why i dont like any current gangster rappers anymore.

This is absolutely true, though not exclusive to 'Gangster Rap' as most rappers are part of that segment of society-

The CONS are that the music is socially irresponsible. Mostly because they stress the realness of their music and themselves but when critics question the musics effects on society the artists compare their music to works of fiction like action movies, and themselves to actors.
It's all a big contradiction, or so it seems to be this 'Tough Guy'---->who writes Poetry. This 'REAL Muhfugga" who's telling tales. But boy does it sell.
