I watched the movie over 2 hours ago and I don't really have much to say right now. The reason I don't have much to say is because I don't want to spoil it all. The movie was graphic but blood and gore fans may find it tame. I believe one of the reasons as to why it's so graphic is due to abuse happening to ONE person over and over and over and over and over and over and over. Do other people get beat? YES but to see it constantly happen to one person leaves you thinking. The way he was beaten....the instruments used....I can't really describe. When you see him punished by the Romans the subtitles go off. You have to use your imaginination and REALLY pay attentoion to whats about to happen. If you understand the language you will have no problem comprehending it...VERY powerful scene in my opinion.
A lot of the language you may understand if you've read threads/posts where myself or Yehuda have written/typed hebrew and other languages. You won't see the words YESHUA or MASHIACH (The movie is subtitled) but you will HEAR them. The thing that really got me was the scene with Mary reflecting on the past and thinking back to when Yeshua was a little boy. When you watch that scene you will find it ironic that the same way he made his living (dealing with wood/carpentry) is the same way he embraced his death (carrying his wooden cross).
When you watch the movie pay attention to the Sanhedrin and how they turn to groveling worms in the presence of the Romans. I found it odd that Pilate was portrayed as a "good" man but Herods character was pretty much on point. Judas? No comment.....HA SHATAN (SATAN)? SICK INDIVIDUAL.
I was impressed with the movie. Yes it showed Yeshua being beaten beyond belief but he didn't appear to be WEAK. The average jesus movie makes him out to be very weak but at times you'll find yourself wishing he would simply stay down. He doesn't get up with energy and vigor by the count of Nine like Rocky. It's nothing like that. It's not dramatic like "here comes the hero he is risen". He appears to be strong in SPIRIT (something lacking from other movies) and completes his mission. On his way to Golgotha he was beaten over and over and the crucifixion scene is pretty gory. A LOT OF SYMBOLISM IS USED IN THE CRUCIFIXION SCENE. IF YOU'RE A SPIRITUAL PERSON (NOT A CHRISTIAN) WHO KNOWS WHAT HE OR SHE WORSHIPS/BELIEVES YOU'LL KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. Pay attention to when he FINALLY dies. VERY powerful scene from a VERY powerful movie. A must see for people of ALL ages, genders, religions and nationalities.
TWO thumbs up.
