ALBANY, Ore.--Albany Police have released the name of a transient found crushed to death inside an Albany recycling center.
The body was discovered early Thursday morning at the Allied Waste recycling plant on S.W. 30th Ave.
Sergeant Jerry Drum said 50 year old Gordon Lemke was a known transient in the area.
This is not the first death of it's nature in Albany.
"It's rare but it does happen. People fall asleep in dumpsters," said Sgt. Drum.
Albany Police believe Lemke fell asleep inside a local retailer's cardboard compactor before his body was discovered inside the recycling plant. The driver of the truck, who's load police believe Lemke's body was found in, started his shift sometime after 3 a.m. Thursday. The driver was not considered a suspect.
The death does not appear to be suspicious.
