The point of private trackers is not to hide from the RIAA, at least, that is not the primary focus. These trackers exist to ensure the user top quality of files (especially w/ music), the fastest possible speeds, that there are zero fake files or viruses, that files are seeded for extended periods of time, and basically that every last bit of bullshit found on public trackers is weeded out.
I have close to all the torrent sites I need. I use what.cd for music and applications; I also use It-Leaked for music but it is http based and not a torrent site; I use RevolutionTT for everything but music and it works great. I have Demonoid and a couple other sites that I really have no use for and rarely ever log in. The only tracker I'm really interested in is one that specializes in television shows. Rev is pretty good for this but a website like bitmetv.org is what I'm interested in.

In my personal opinion what.cd is better than waffles. However, there are times when what I want to download is not on what.cd and I turn to waffles which often has it, at the same time some things that are not on waffles are on what.cd.
It's kind of similar between TTI and Revtt. Revtt has amazing download speeds and releases content a little faster then TTI however TTI often has more diverse content, 2X upload bonuses, Free Leech bonuses, a movie of the week feature, and a points tracking system which allows you to use points for seeding to lower your download amounts.

I think that's their way of ensuring there will be no fake or horrible quality releases put onto the site, this is one of the problems with rapidshare.
If you have problems with ratio TTI is the place to be it's pretty much impossible to have a low ratio on that site. That's why it's the one I recommend to all my friends who are new to the torrenting scene.
