indeed, but whatever, Hes's gone now.

In that Q&A with reggie, they mentioned restructuring tyvone branch's contract to get more cap money, and branch was on board, why havent they done that already? If hes down for it, they shoulda been restructured it already in case anything pops up so we dont waste any time

we could have gave porter the money we gave to brisiel who i dont see working out at all
lol brisiel has worked with pollack, our new offensive line coach, and has plenty of experience with the ZBS. i dont think reggie woulda threw that much money at him if he wasnt a factor

although i do think porter>spencer and bartel, its not by much

i just dont care for him since his signing ive watched video on him and i feel porter would have had the greatest impact for this team. so to me this signing was a mistake. i hope he proves me wrong but i feel we needed cb's and not linemen

linemen always have more impact on a football team, than cb's. we had nnamdi on our team for years and through most of those years we had shit defensive and offensive lines. how'd that work out for us?

it's no coincidence that the last two seasons we had better play at the offensive/defensive lines and our record improved to no longer being under .500

he hasn't made any flashy moves up to this point, but that's fine. I admit that I was hoping we'd sign Tracy Porter, but Reggie is addressing all of our needs, and not spending too much money on one position

I respect your opinion, but just remember that Reggie is known for being great at evaluating talent. So if you think it was a bad move, and Reggie thinks it was a good move... no offense, but my money is with Reggie. There's a reason why he gets paid a lot of money to do what he does. this isn't Al Davis stuck in his ways making crazy personnel moves... this is a guy who is well respected around the league TODAY

I understand the frustration, as a fan you naturally wanna see big moves... but that's not gonna happen this off season. Just be patient and have a little optimism. Reggie is trying to turn this thing around. Give him some time to do what he had to do before we start saying he's fucking up and making bad moves. The guy was handed over a mess, it's not gonna be easy.

Raiders WLB Aaron Curry's new contract actually tacked four years onto his old rookie deal, keeping Curry under Oakland's control through 2016.
The final three seasons are voidable, however, and none of Curry's $3.5 million due in 2013 is guaranteed. It's believed the deal will void after two seasons, assuming Curry is still a Raider then. He received a $1.885 million signing bonus and a 2012 base salary of $615,000. Curry should return as a starter in 2012, and he will be back in 2013 if he plays well on the weak side.

Yeah well I can't help that I am optimisitic by nature.

Well lets see, we had probably the best offensive weapon in football miss ten games last year. We had two of our best playmakers miss about 8 games each. We had are starting qb go down midseason and brought Palmer off the couch and still almost squeezed in the playoffs. Not to mention AD dying early in the season. This team went through alot last year, don't kid yourself. But if you haven't faced much adversity in your life you won't understand, I completely get it.

We obviously retained Al Saunders to keep the offense for the most part the same, and Palmer will have an offseason with the team. We should average around 25-30 points a game offensively this year no problem.

Defensively I don't think I have ever witnessed that shitty of play from our secondary, ever. It can't get any worse than last year. We had an 80+ year old man bringing in our talent. We brought in some fresh blood in way of a defensive minded HC and young bright mind as a DC to fix the wreck from last year. It seems Reggie comes cosigned for by some legends and so far so good.

I am optimistic by nature but the Raiders are not as far off as some of you guys want to believe. Football is a game of inches. A player here, a play there makes a difference. Playoffs or not, it is called being faithful, win or lose. I am realistic and know nobody knows what is going to happen next year, that is why they play the game....
Fair enough but when they do finally make the playoffs you're gonna act all smart like, I told you! Even tho you predicted that incorrectly the previous 4 years. Reggies gonna build slow through the draft. Which they don't have this year. I see alot of dumb comments in here like, Reggie thinks Bush is replaceable cuz they didn't resign him. Umm they don't have the cap room. We should have signed Porter he's way better! Well no shit but you sign some turd instead cuz its only one year and Reggie knows he wants to build thru the draft cuz they're not one player away and don't have the cap room. That's what Reggie does, he drafts. It worked in Green Bay and I'm sure it will work eventually but I'm pretty sure thats how he's planning on running the Raiders once he gets some draft picks and some of the horrendous contracts expire. Don't think he wants to sign more overpaid free agents to maybe go 9-7 and be one and done. He's gonna draft young dudes to build a team that can compete for years like how they did in Green Bay. That was my longest post ever.

reggie has sent out mixed messages about cap space and free agent signings. on the one hand, he says we don't have the money to keep bush and wimbley. on the other, he said if there was a free agent that he really thought the team couldn't pass on. he'd redo some more contracts and figure out a way to make room. he could clear out a lot of cap space by signing tyvon branch to a long term deal, instead paying out for the franchise tag we have on him now.

so reggie may have wanted to keep bush, but at the same time, he didn't think bush was worth the money that the bears paid out for him. so I don't see bush as some irreplaceable player, but he is good.

anyway, looking ahead to the draft:

Rookie OLBs who could fit Oakland
The Oakland Raiders are expected to receive some compensatory picks (for several free-agency losses in 2011) in April's draft. The picks could be announced as soon as Monday; I think the Raiders could get the highest comp pick, which would be No. 96 (New Orleans forfeited a pick because of the bounty scandal), at the end of the third round.

Oakland general manger Reggie McKenzie has said the team is looking for a starting outside linebacker. There is a good chance Oakland will look for that player with its top comp pick.

I caught up with Steve Muench of Scouts Inc. to look at some outside linebackers who may be available in that pick range. For the record, Muench is not sure any of the outside linebackers in that range are ready to start. Let’s take a look:

Utah State’s Bobby Wagner: “They would be lucky to get Wagner. He has the ability to compete for early playing time and is versatile enough to line up on the strong side. I just don’t think he slips that far.”

Florida State’s Nigel Bradham: “He makes a little more sense. He may be a better fit on the weak side and he needs to continue to improve his ability to anchor against the run but he’s versatile enough to develop into a starter on the strong side. He ran (4.66 in the 40-yard dash) and jumped (37-inch vertical) well at the combine.”

Texas’ Keenan Robinson: “He is another interesting possibility. He is a bit of an underachiever but he has the blend of size, athletic ability and speed to develop into a quality starter if the light ever comes on for him. He would also be a fairly good value at 97. “

I'm starting to get juiced about the draft.
I think Reggie is going to shine in the mid-rounds. This is what he does.

Alabama nose tackle Josh Chapman is scheduled to meet with the Raiders in a pre-draft visit, according to Scout.com.
The interest makes sense, given coach Dennis Allen’s stated intent to be “multiple” on defense. Playing some or all of a 3-4 scheme would require a stout defender in the middle of the line.
That’s where a player of Chapman’s talents come into play. He is 6-feet-1 and 316 pounds and well versed in the 3-4. We also know he’s plenty tough, as evidenced by his playing the final half of last season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Travis Ivey is the only other true nose tackle on Oakland’s roster. Ivey was signed late in the season to the Raiders practice squad.
“We haven’t decided any of that yet,” Allen said Monday, when asked about the 4-3 vs. the 3-4 next season. “We’re still going through the process of acquiring talent, looking into who we’re going to have on the team next year. Once we get through the draft, we’ll have a better feel what we want to do there.”
Several other teams reportedly are meeting with Chapman. He is regarded as the third-best nose tackle in the upcoming draft and should last into the third round, where the Raiders are scheduled to make their first pick.
The book on Chapman is, he shines against the run and isn’t much of a pass-rusher. Regardless, the Raiders need someone of his build and talent if they intend to play the 3-4.
