Im not sure why Strange keeps missing the mark on there singles? I mean some make sense but other choices seem to be some of the weakest tracks from the CD.

My suggestion is to let the Strange Fans pick the next single on the next SM release. I would like to have 3 songs to pick from off the album, and a commitment from them to give the single a 100% push/ support from the label.

They could make it a "official" contest to hype a future project or a way to get new fans involved....but I think they need our help lol.

I liked the Kaliko project and GMP but I think the singles were some of the weakest songs on the albums..

What do you guys think...

i thought the singles for KOD were great choices. "Show Me A God" told everyone why the album was made, "Leave Me Alone" and "Low" were just good choices overall.

They seem to be having issues when choosing Kalikos singles. "Misunderstood" was just an OK song off of the Genius album and "Elevator" is weak/irritating. theres half a dozen songs i would easily choose before that

Most of the time, I think the singles are probably chosen based upon their belief that the single could do well in the mainstream world/radio. When everything on rap/hip-hop radio is sugarcoated and even the dumbest of listeners can fully comprehend the music, wouldn't Elevator clearly be the right single to go with?

You have a point, but IMO the single should also represent the album as a whole.

When Jay Z or 50 drops a single I know if I buy the album most if not all of the songs on there will sound the same. When I buy a SM album I get a mix of stuff.
Elevators dosent have the same sound as the rest of the album IMO.

I dont think the song itself is all that bad but compared to the rest of the album its not that great to me. I dont think that you have to pick the most "dummed down" song on an album either. Outkast has done some singles it the past that were anything but dummed down. So has Nas, Lupe, and Cee-Lo. I think people will accept who the artists is and what there music is if they get a consistent message on what there music is.

I think that when you drop a single you should think about what represents you as an artist. Krizz strong point is his rapping and singing. Why not drop a single where he does both? Misunderstood did that for Genius. All Elevators does is show that they know where the elevators are in a Vegas hotel.

only big name artists have the ability to pick whatever single they want. Krizz is still trying to gain his own fanbase so he needs to try and catch peoples attention with something catchy. so as far as that goes, i understand the choice. i just dislike the song for the most part

Eminem is the only mainstream artist i listen to that 9 out of 10 times has a single that sounds nothing like the rest of his album

i personally believe that Krizz has a better chance blowing up off some random song that is sort of out of the ordinary. something like "Rejection"

I agree with that for sure. But, in some instances, that just can't happen. Like with KOD, they had to chose "Leave Me Alone" since it WASNT like everything else on the album. They know how hard it is to get their shit on MTV and radio as it is. It would be even harder if they tried to promote a dark track. Sometimes you just have to have something catchy that gets listener's attention. Like Infantry said, if you are huge like Em, you can get versatile singles out there. I mean come on...look at "I'm Not Afraid." If a nobody tried to push that song, everybody would be like this guy is a retard because it's different. But, since it's a well-known artist, the song is absoutely genius! I'm not saying it's a shitty song, I'm just saying if you are going to have a single outside of the norm, typically you have to be a well known artist to get it played.

I like the idea but we said the same thing when they switched Playa to Imma Tell as the AP single.

SO good luck w that.

But I think the idea of a "single" is dying pretty much.

Kali has 2-3 songs that could be singles on the new album.

I agree but I think if we had something like this then we could pick that 1 song that has a bit of EVERYTHING that we love from that SM artist. I already know that an ALL dark track probably wouldnt make the grade...but then again it depends on the time of year the album was coming out in and the content of the song.

Thats true. But if you want to be "that" type of artists I think you should take chances with you song pics. BOB from Outkast wouldnt have been my pic for a single but they did it and it blew up lol. Tech and company have songs on par with that kind of music and I would like to see them with a single that lives up to that. 00Nina would have been a great single/ video! It sums up Tech and SM as a whole. Them dudes are road warriors and hes all over the place lol. That would have been my choice and its mainstream enough IMO.

I think you have a point on the "single" as the way it used to be. But singles are still important. They may not make it in MTV like they used to, but viral videos and the internet still have power to sell units.

Look at Cee-Lo's new song Fuck you for instance. He has a song that basically cant be listened to on the radio or MTV w/o heavy editing but Its the #1 song on I tunes and its guaranteed to cell when the new album drops. All SM needs is an off the wall type song and a Bad ASS video to go along with it and it will take them to that next level lol....

Im not saying that the collabs in the works are the songs that will do that per se but Id take a strong look at them once there in the can.

IMO the only people watching these vids you're talking about are the people looking for them in the first place.

This "Cee lo" character may have the number one song on itunes but I've never heard shit from him nor do I care to.

Maybe it's just me being old, but if I don't give a shit about you now, I'm not going to give a shit about your new single no matter how much money you put into your new video.

What's weird about that? I found my niche, ya know? I know what I like by this point.

Once in a while I'll hear something new on the radio that's cool but I never check online for it. The only "new" thing I might be checking out is that Nicky Minaj broad.

Thats how it works man. Everyone is there own filter. Then you hear that one person/song and you check for it lol.

Thats what happened when I 1st hard Tech. I wasnt "looking" for Tech, he just so happened to be on the radio. But the reason I heard about him was from the media. No one told me about Tech I basically stumbled into him lol.

i always felt like a lot of mainstream artists' labels picked the worst song on the album to be the single. there were a lot of singles i fuckin hated then listened to the album later and the single was one of the few bad songs on the album. it seems like strange is following that. letting the fans pick the single>whatever the fuck strange is doing
