I think everyone in Pittsburgh says the word pop. Like everyone. 100% I didn't even hear people say soda until I moved out of my hometown. And people from Philly all say soda. But its cool cuz we're yinzers out here.

I always thought of soda as the clear carbonated beverage. Like club soda or something. And once you add cola to it, then its pop.

In my head though Im thinkin soda is the "right" word, but I'll never fuckin say it.

in my case.. yeah.

Anyone seen The 51st State with Samuel L jackson & Robert Carlisle?

thinkin of the scene where Jackson is in the elevator wearin a kilt, Carlisle says 'fag' to Jackson.. Theres a brief and still silence, then Carlisle offers Jackson a cigarette. CLASSIC.
You mean "Forumla 51"?Unless it got a different name over seas....

EDIT:It does....interesting...

That's some weird shit, I don't know where you'd dig up threads from 2004 - must have way too much time on your hands!!

Oh yeah - neither. In australia we call them softies, or soft drinks. We don't call 'cookies' cookies either, we call them biscuits...

Its such a regional thing.
I moved to northern california from muskegon, michigan when I was eight years old and I remember the first time I had a couple friends over & I asked them if they wanted any pop. They were like "pop?", "thats what old people call soda". I remember the memory vividly cause it tripped me out cause in michigan old people said soda and all the youngins said pop.
