I've always supported Alex Smith. His work ethic is off the charts.. He's always looking to improve and he's willing to do whatever it takes for the team to win. He's also one of the smartest players in the league so I know he's gonna get the game down.

His rookie year was a joke.. He was set up to fail. He had nobody around him except Frank Gore, but at the time Frank was a backup to Kevan "Sets The" Bar-Low. The line was a complete joke as well and Brandon fuckin Lloyd was the best receiver we had. Not to mention his age at the time, barely old enough to drink. Last year he looked OK, especially after his rookie year, but this year he's looking real crisp and poised. He no longer looks lost..

I'll admit... I dogged him and called him a bust. I don't think Solitary dogged him like I did. Actually Solitary came to his defense when i created that Alex Smith bust thread. He's looking good though... He's proving me wrong so far.

I was bitter that we didn't wait 1 more year with Rattay to draft Cutler, Leinart, or Young but things worked out.

Not even Joe Montana would have succeeded with that ass of a team the 9ers had during Smith's rookie year.

The important thing is he seems to be poised in the pocket and has a winning attitude.

wait....but my three years for a qb to prove himself was blown out of the water????????

I have said it for 2 years and I will say it again...IT TAKES 3+ YEARS FOR QB'S coming out of college to actually GET IT!

Same reason I have been telling Raider fans not to put your hopes on JR for some time, Same reason I said Cutler wouldn't be great if they started him last year, etc etc etc.....

I agree, and Alex is coming into his 3rd year this season. But I still think he's gonna show what he can really bring to the table next year. I am confident he will be much improved this year and he will be a good QB though, I just think he'll get on that other level next season.

He really looks like he understands everything that is going on now. Check out how his head moves when he drops back from his rookie year to last year to this one. Starting to look real cool in the pocket. Does remind me of Brees with a stronger arm and a better scrambler.
