The horror lies not only within the death toll and physical damage the earthquake has caused in Haiti, but also in their inability to help themselves. When a major disaster happens in a country like ours, as devastating as it may be, it's only a matter of time before we sift through the wreckage and rebuild. Our resources permit us do do this. This country is completely helpless.

yep, this is what i was implying when i made my last post... that place was fucked up to begin with, and they could barely help themselves before the earthquake. their problems just got much worse.

Terrible situation. Their former Prime Minister was on the phone on the news earlier today saying that none of the Haitian charities could be trusted with donations and only outside countries could responsible with money donated.

They also stated that the fresh water demand is so high that it was being sold at ridiculous prices that barely any citizens can afford to buy it. I think many people will die of dehydration and lack of food before this is over. Disease will also have a big impact as their temperatures are over 80 degrees and thousands of people are gathering in the same places increasing their chances of becoming sick.
