B-legit talks shit to the rappers that have stolen the "bay area slang" on the YUK uga dvd, same thing for e-40 and a lot of other rappers from the bay in recent interviews.
I know its kinda pathetic listen to the jay z "Izzo" song or listen to snoop dogg when he say "fo'shizzle my nizzle",but the "izzle"
language comes not from the bay.
Unfortunately, dudes like B-Legit E-40 and Yuk are too stupids to know something outside their bay rap thing (SAME THING FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE BAY AREA PEOPLE ON THIS FORUM ).

"Yo Yo this is our slang, fuck them bustas"

THIS IS A LITTLE LESSON FOR Y'ALL....BAY AREA DICKHEADS!

*That way of talkin comes straight from the jazz players!

Its not a bay area slang, this is the proof:the bay area niggas are stupids as fuck!!!

I don't think there's anyone here (or anywhere else) that doesn't know that the same shit was being used in old shit (i.e. Double Dutch Bus.)

Oh boy. The izzo's is old school. But int he bay it became part of everyday talk. Not so much anymore, but I would say the 80's big time. Everyday talk. Before I evr heard it in a song, we was sizz'nayin tizipe of slizang with the izzos. Nobody really denies that other people did it too.

Now, I am a big time jazz lover. and I am going to have to call you on something you claim to know much about. I would like to know which jazz artists, songs talked like that in their music. Regardles s of the flair, slang, etc, they did not tie together words with "izzo" like you are saying. Maybe you are more knowledgeable than I..... I would really like to know. Find 10 songs that use izzo's. Remember, we are not talking about "swing" laced with lyrics you said "Jazz". Most of the jazz shit was acapella. But the ones with lyrics were not (to my knowlegde) dropping izzos from harlem. lol.

10 artist, 10 songs please. Surely a knowledgeable jazz man like yourself can come up with that. OK, maybe that's too much. FIVE songs. 3? I doubt you can come up with 3 songs or artists who wee known to do that. *sigh*

To me jazz is sacred. Next time you want to make a point, use some artform like Disco or Do-Wop...but JAZZ!!! Aint nuthin sacred no-more. Izzo's in jazz.

By the way, the double dutch bus was a classic. They were saying that in NY and California for the longest time. Nobody knows where it started. The point most people make is that nowdays kids in the east coast and even in LA aren't getting it fromthe double dutch bus or whatever, they are getting it from whatever media outlet is showing someone using that terminoogy. Just like "Its all good" "It's Nuthin" "Doin it real big" we have different slang out here and it is kinda catchy. So what.

I can remember going to college at Morehouse and being in a dorm room with guys from all over the country. All black, obviously. We got to hear how other people tlaked and the music. One thing I know for CERTAIN. We do things very differently out here. I didn't even know what the FUCK hosue music was. I thought it was some shit you played inthe house! They instantly realized that the music I had was bass heavy, slow, and a different kinda rap. Everybody had different slang. They could barely understan me, and I couldn't understand whatthe fuck them southern cats fromMacon, Ga. was sayin. Every region is different. Regardless of who started it, the izzos has been a large part onurban dialect around the bay for at LEAST 25 years. Before that it was just a regular part like everywere else.

By the way:

What do u know about the "Jive Bombers" ? :dead:
Your knowledge is limited to me.....

Maybe your high comes down during this post, who knows ?
However, Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Cab Calloway,
Louis Jordan and Slim Gaillard are pioneers to me.
I got 560 jazz records in my collection,i guess u have barely heard of the "dudes" above...

Young bro, you are not dealin with a youngstyer. You are gonna have to do more than name a few jazz artists. I said What artists, what songs. Be specific. You have no idea what my jazz knowledge is. Can you get specific or not. WHo used the izzo's consistently from the jazz era? Give me a song, or two or three.

Or is this one of those things where you just hope I am not going to be very specific and don't have the insight to call you on it. I look forward to the opportunity. If you name these songs, I will probably know them, and would congratulate you on your insight in quick minute.

Cab Calloway, Slim Gaillard, what does that have to do with the topic at hand..... what songs did they use "izzo" type slang. Cane you give us the specific songs or not.

On a more positive note, I am glad to see people taking an interest in jazz. True liberation of the soul through music. I wish it would beome more popular, but everything goes in cycles.
I was 7 or 8 when my grandpa gave me a couple of pieces of vinyl (Louis Armstong's "Hot Five Band" and another from "The Hot Seven". This was in response to my brother and I arguing that Michael Jackson's "off the wall" was the greatest record ever. LOL! This old man was livid. Then he told me how he had had the same argument with his grandfather (who was born a slave in 1849 South Carolina) about music. His grandfather thought jazz was trash - actually he said "heathenish". LOL!!! Music goes in cycles and every generation recreates our internal rythm in their own way. It wouldn't surprise me if somebody from the past used the "izzos" but I am pretty sure it wasn't prevalent in song or speech...nowhere near what we 've been doing in the bay the last 20 years.

i got folks out there
90-94. It was a good time. We used to sit around and have "bull sessions". Meaning you sit around until 4/5 in the mornin and philosohphy about life, death everything a brother could think of. Then we would have poetry contests, that's how that rage poetry shit started. Started with a few small contests, and the shit just blew up. A couple of the cats are still doin the shit, too...makin pretty good money. asically its just rap with no beat. The inverse of jazz - all one in the same. The same head nod.

But I am still waitin on the 3 jazz songs with "izzo" slang. If I am wrong, I will tip my cap. Buuuuut....

I know this is not the got damn jazz forum, but I can't help myself on this one. Mastermind, I reread your post and had to point you to something. If you love jazz like you say, you may want to start feeling it and stop just listening to it. You brag about how many records you own. You throw out names and say others' knowledge is "limited" compared to yours. Look, man, a baby has as much knowledge about jazz as Louis Armstrong. It is not science, it is rythm. It beats in your chest. Nobody becomes a master, nobody becomes a sage. You don't have "knowledge" just because you know a few names and own a few records. Get off your high horse and stop using the art for your perverted purposes. Like Satchmo said, "I know just enough about it to know I don't know a damn thing about it." That's real. I have NEVER heard a jazz afficianado brag on how many records he has. You would get the big frown/gas face around like minded people. Cut that shit out. Your point about the izzos can be argued and debated, but nobody... NOBODY is an expert on jazz... especially not one who (as your siccness info suggests) is 25 years old and brags about how many records he has.
"Your knowledge is limited to me." You sound like a kid. Listen to yourself. Maybe I am taking it too seriously... but you sure sound like you have an axe to grind against the bay. This bay area lingo is unique to this era. Why does that bother you. You are calling people dumb as fuck and then pointing to Cab Calloway. Listen to yourself. Cut that shit out. Pick country western or Norwegian folk music to fuck around with...but leave jazz out of it because you do it a disservice. Make people not WANT to listen to it b/c they associate it with the way you talk shit - real talk.

I'm done posting on this thread, unless he puts up names of actual songs to prove his point. Back to Bay Area "Rap" talk
