That's the best I can describe it. Pharrell used it on Ludacris's "Moneymaker" right after the break. Something like "Whoooooooo" with a real soft attack and a little decay to it. How can I accomplish this. and can someone point me in the right direction to read up on sound design with a synth. I'll be purchasing some synth pretty soon. I want to know things like how many occilators to use for certain sounds . Basic foundations for Basses , snares, etc. I'm tired of fiddling around and making stuff on accident. So far only with soft synths with preset patches. I want to make what I hear in my head...so any links would be helpful. Thanks.

EDIT:
acutally you can hear it througout the song from the beginning.

Sounds like a conga slide.
What kinda gear are you using? Im pretty sure my Motif and Fantom both have conga slide sound effects under the percussion section. I know for sure the fantom does.
If you wanna duplicate the sound they used Id find a sample of a conga slide and maybe turn the pitch up a bit so the slide is quicker like in the song.
One of my folx can do it real well on a conga drum..sounds sick

How's this. I was fucking with a "hoover" trance lead sound I made with "Synth1" VSTi (It's freeware) a while back because Hoover leads tend to have that Slide effect to the envelope of the sound and I modified it into this below. I softened it up a bit and changed the waveform to a Triangle instead of a Sawtooth. A sinewave should do the job also, something that sounds soft. Sawtooth or Square might be a bit too harsh.

^Actually just selling studio time has been treating me good, but I got some GOOD money coming to me soon for some work that I forgot I actually did lol! As far as the beat business, I was staying in diego before and after I got involved in production, but I moved back to the bay years ago. I do fly to diego often, and one year I remember flying so much they start putting orange tags on my bag and ran through them. I tell everyone the bay is my home, but diego is my home also. I love the place. :)

Update!
Came out shitty. deleted from card and my brain FOREVER! AAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
It's hard to delete stuff. Even if I don't like it. If I don't delete unpromising stuff...I find myself spending way too much time trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.
