ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The man Albuquerque police called "the most active commercial burglar in the Duke City" is behind bars on Friday, and he just turned 17.
Police accused Nicholas Jojola of robbing dozens of Albuquerque Big Box stores and stealing tens of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise, Action 7 News reported.
Many of those businesses sent their security chiefs to a detention hearing on Friday to make sure Jojola wasn't allowed to bond out. Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schultz was also there to send a message to the judge.
Authorities said Jojola and his accomplices would usually steal a car and batter their way into businesses, causing major damage.
Prosecutors charged Jojola with 82 counts of criminal activity.
The judge said he was a flight risk, and he was not allowed to bond out.
Police said they're going to work with the district attorney to see if Jojola can be tried as an adult.
