@ Heresy Yes. Rushdie: Fundamentalists of all faiths are the fundamental evil of our time. Almost all my friends are atheists -- I don't feel as though I'm an exception. If you take a look at history, you will find that the understanding of what is good and evil has always existed before the individual religions. The religions were only invented by people afterwards, in order to express this idea. I for one don't need a supreme "sacred" arbiter in order to be a moral being. WOW! I respect him though, He Speaks his mind.

i think his point is that one can find the light in themselves to do all the good and holy and moral that religious texts lead one to do. that before religion was here, people had that potential. to do good deeds, have good thoughts, and take good actions (first oficially designed by zarathustra, founder of zorastrianism, believed to be the foundation of philosophy as well as monotheistic religion) is something we all can do, and if we were living in a far away land where religion has failed to reach, a person still can do these great things and find his own salvation without ever reading a single of any religious text, even though all religions basically urge the same behavior as a means of achieving holiness.

I highly agree with you Nav, unlike me, when you speak you almost think about what you're gonna say. But I, Like him, don't believe in Organized Religion, but I think I agree with him about the Fundementalists, I considered my self a Christian Fundementalists, and he said that Fundementalism is going to be a down fall, on society, because it sort of forces people to believe in something without having sort of an option. But at the same time, if you look at these Free-world people, they are as dangerous as these Religious Fundementalists that become Extremist. Free-world people like those Nature or Tree huggers, blow up things as well to prove a point, not to cut down trees. In either case, Both those who take Religion extreme, and non-theistic people, like he said, any one now a days can turn into a terrorist.

^ then those tree huggers are uneducated as well as the terrorists.
i am for peace, and i know that you cant fight hate with hate.
the idea is not to be anti-war, but pro peace.

also, the number of tree huggers that blow shit up is too low compared to fundamentalists to even matter

That's True Hemp, and I like that "the idea is not to be anti-war, but pro peace" that's how everyone should look at particular situations. But what about Anarchist, those who don't believe in God, but yet will throw Cocktail Motolovs at Officers, trying to Patrol the Vascinity. I forgot the mention one good thing, many of these Relgious Terrorists are only doing this because these Religious Groups offer them food, money, and clothing, so in Return these people see it as paying them back. That's why Organised religion isn't such a Good thing, you Have Catholics Fighting Protestants, The Sunni against the Shiites, Christian Denominations against other Christian Denominations, and the list goes on.

yes, but its not mostly because of the hospitalities they recieve, but because they believe its the truth.

like i was talking to this christian girl i knew from school about religion and how it contradicts humanity/life within its own self and she seemed to support my search for truth by saying "i hope you find truth", but it turned out to her "truth" = christianity.

same with her saying "right, religion is false", and that turned out because to her christianity isnt a religion but THE WAY OF LIFE, just as islam is to a muslim.

remember that our world is how we precieve it, and in each of their lives, they will come across proof many times which will only support their belief even more.

That's why with each hour, with each day, week, month, or Year I learn something new. My duty as a Christian is to let you see the view that Christ would try to show you his Gospels, the 10 commandments, his Reason for his Sacrifice and Resurrection. My duty shouldn't be to debate amongst my peers, but to let them know. And leave it to them to understand and seek the Truth for themselves. I know in my past Posts I have made stupid Comments to back up my faith, and made dumb arguements. Instead of just telling you guys, I've told you enough so look for yourselves, I instead kept arguing when I should have left it at that. Jeremiah 29:13 Read it. There are so many perceptions to the truth, and many people will sort of find it their way, but I've found mine, and I can't discredit other faiths, because I've learned to Respect the Person, but not necessarily their faiths or way of life. But as Children of God, which I believe we all are, if you can't agree on the Basis of religion then respect each other, cause that's the least that can come out of that type of situation.
