On Saturday the UFC officially announced that Dave Terrell had been scratched from this month’s UFC 78 event because of an ankle injury (and that Joe Doerksen has stepped in as his replacement).GracieFighter.com now has some additional information on Terrell’s injury:
From the website:
David Terrell has pulled out of his UFC 78 match versus Ed Herman after tearing tendons on his ankle. The injury happened last Tuesday and the decision to pull out came after an MRI showed he had in fact torn his tendons.
The 29-year-old Terrell, a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Cesar Gracie, pulled out of a UFC 62 fight with a sinus infection, a UFC 66 fight with an elbow injury, and now a UFC 78 fight because of an ankle injury. It’s been 19 months since Terrell (6-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) last fought professionally.
Terrell’s fought just once in the past 33 months.
UFC 78 takes place Nov. 17 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. The pay-per-view event features a headline bout between “The Ultimate Fighter” champions Rashad Evans and Michael Bisping.
