Manatee County, Florida - The Manatee County Sheriff's office says a 15-year-old boy shot himself in the foot. The boy had been playing around with a loaded 9mm Ruger while at a friend's house. The 17-year-old friend warned him of the danger and asked him to put the gun away.
The 15-year-old wanted to show his friend that the gun was safe by pointing it to the ground and pulling the trigger.
The gun went off and teen now has a hole in his foot.
The boy's older brother started driving the injured boy towards the hospital when he stopped a deputy who was handling a minor traffic crash on US 301 N.
EMS responded and took him to Manatee Memorial Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
