While watching a Tech N9ne interview on YouTube a topic arose discussing the differences between a major label and an independent and Tech spoke briefly on ownership of the music..

Now I know Tech has ownership of all his music that has appeared on Strange Music and had to go to New York City and get the rights to Anghellic from the JCOR label, I assume Don Juan ??.. but who currently owns Calm Before The Storm and The Worst/Worst 2K album rights??

I ask this because Now It's On (feat. Lejo) and Mitch Bade, both originally featured on The Calm Before The Storm, both appeared on the Vintage Tech album.. not to mention I have seen in the past people speaking about how the OG versions differ to the re-printed versions cosmetically and that there were still re-prints available around and stocked on certain music stores shelves in the States..

Anyone got any information on this..

Thanks in advance..

there is not a copy of those albums on any shelf out there. rapbay is the only place to have the reprints.

And tech owns some of those I believe. Tech and travis went to don juans and paid him off. I remember the thread years back.

The only music tech dont have is the nutthowze shit.

If you find a new copy of any of those albums on a shelf in a store anywhere. Ill cut my fuckin pinky off.

Not happenin though.

FYI: From July 08

Dubcnn: How much old unreleased Tech N9ne music is still locked in the vaults from the early 90's?

N9ne: Shit, if I could count them, I'd tell you brother! I mean, they're gonna hit the surface, real soon.

Dubcnn: Is that right?

N9ne: Yeah, man! We got a lot of shit, IcyRoc got a lot of shit.

Dubcnn: I was about to ask you about IcyRoc, he probably got a gang of shit in the vaults!

N9ne: Yeah, we was doing music man! Only they could tell you that. IcyRoc got a lot, Don Juan got a lot, Black Walt got some shit... Whoever I did music with, QD3 got some shit, you name it! I'm out there, man!

What I would like to know about is this: What about all the albums released with MSC Music & Entertainment?

I see them on the shelves from time to time, and they still have all the MSC labels, etc., on them. I wonder if these are just what's left, or if copies are still made, who is in charge of that? One would think Strange, but why would they continue to have MSC's logo on the back? I would think that they would have Fontana's logo on them now, but maybe there is still something that says those CDs like AP, Ang: Rep, VT, etc., have to have those labels and shit on the back. It's hard to explain, but I think it's interesting, and I had never heard anything about it.

If the rights to Calm Before The Storm and The Worst albums are currently owned to someone other than Strange Music how did the two Calm Before The Storm tracks (Now It's On and Mitch Bade) appear on Vintage Tech??

what I'd like to know is...

Did Tech/Strange finally get sample clearances for Freaky or did they toss it on Vintage Tech and hope Prince's folks wouldn't say anything about it?

A very good question, and a valid point. Also, with Vintage Tech, how were they able to "magically" use the original version of Trapped in a Psycho's Body? Right before the song starts, Tech explains why it wasn't used on AP, but then 2 1/2 years later, they can? Seems odd to me. :eyecross:

your not supposed to talk about that, just appreciate it. They intentionally pressed less copies of this album because its stricktly for the diehard underground cats, which is why they chose to release shit that they normally wouldn't or couldn't. Now someone delete this thread before too many eyes catch it:siccness:
