Tech N9ne in the EAST Coast

Someone asked me this question the other day and I thought I might post it here because I couldnt come up w/ a good anwser. Heres the question.

If Tech N9ne is big in the indie circuits in the Midwest and West Coast why isnt he big in the East Coast?

This question came from a cat that only listens to East Coast rappers and argues w/ me all the time that best rappers are from the East.
I came up w/ some weak anwsers but they didnt win the argument. Just wondering if anyone else has any ideas.

First of all East Coast never showed alot of love for da Midwest, with that being said there aint alot of request ahead east for tours now some people will show up but not alot. And what he said about East Coast artist being da best hes full of shit, like 50 Cent is not da best, next thang u know hes gonna say South is da next best. Jay-Z not even great im sorry but a good artist wont jack lyric for lyric of a song, he didnt even put remix on da song. Nas is a good lyrically but he is boring as fuck. Immortal Techinque dont have alot of lyrically power, Poose (or however its spelled) is whack and falling off. anymore u wanna throw up i can find somethang about em 2 say

I have to agree, a lot of those eastcoast rappers are overrated big time, not saying they arent good. It's just a lot praise them a lil too much.

All I know is that I'm from the East Coast and none of my friends listen to or like the music I play (Midwest/West Coast).

I like BLH, Woodie, Luniz, Yukmouth, Dru Down, Do or Die, etc. and none of my boys listen to it. But anytime I show them Tech N9ne they fuckin love it.

So I think the East Coast doesn't listen to Tech N9ne because they aren't exposed to it. And, even though I fuckin love Tech N9ne, his beats aren't exactly radio friendly. Compare some Tech N9ne beats to some Young Jeezy beats and tech n9ne doesn't sound as "thug". I know, its fuckin bullshit, but taht's what my boys say.

There is good rap everywhere u turn u just gotta listen to something other than the radio. Seeing that im on the east coast and i mostly listen to West coast and mid west shit, there is quite a bit of good east coast shit too. Boot Camp Clik is the shit, Mr. lif is dope Aesop Rock is sick. C-rayz walz, Masta Ace are hella nice. Thats jus a few that u aint gonna hear on the radio, there is many others but that would make me think too much. I jus noticed everyone mentioning the bigger names on the east coast. Not many would know but i think Boot camp had one of their best years last year. IF u get a chance check out Sean Price : Monkey Bars, Smif n Wessun : Reloaded and Buckshot and 9th Wonder : Chemistry. 3 tight ass mother fuckin albums.

new yorkers are too dumb to listen to tech n9ne, if it isnt about purple jackets, they dont understand it, and on the guy who said jay-z sucks cause he steals lyrics....do you even listen to tech n9ne, do you have any idea how much of tech's shit is stolen? where is that old threat where we list all the shit tech stole/copied, lyrics, chorus, beats, etc. but nonetheless, i hate jay-z too :|

All the hating on NY I had to pick yours ya ignorant fuck I live in NY, I listen to Tech N9ne and every mutha fucka I play his shit for love it. To all the rest of the people talking shit about NY I'm not saying all the best rappers are from NY but there are alot of them just like in every other state, just like theres horrible rappers in EVERY state. People here listen to all hip-hop not just rappers from here, how many of you have even been to NY? Until you come here and find out what realy goes on keep ya fuckin mouth shut.

If Tech N9ne wants East Coast fans he needs exposure. Everyone I know out here listens to music from the clubs and the radio. The only people that have ever seen a Tech N9ne video saw the Slacker video on MTV 2.

I think if Tech had the exposure he had in the Midwest/West Coast (even if its just word of mouth) he'd blow up. There's no doubt he has talent.

But he did one show in Pittsburgh and it was with Twizted or ICP or something. I tried to go to the show but there were a bunch of juggalos wearing some facepaint with a line wrapped around the side of the building. If he hadn't toured with them, maybe the real Tech N9ne fans would have shown up to watch him. But as it is his concert was such a bust that he never came back here.

I say its bad exposure, bad marketing, and a really bad tour schedule.
