Tech N9ne to head first Strictly Strange tour

Underground rapper Tech N9ne [ tickets ] will lead the lineup of the first ever Strictly Strange tour, which will feature the entire roster of the Strange label, which he co-owns.
The hip-hop performer--whose real name is Aaron Yates--and his labelmates will launch the trek Oct. 3 in Grand Junction, CO. Tech N9ne and crew--Krizz Kaliko, Kutt Calhoun, Prozak, Skatterman & Snug Brim and Grave Plott--will hit more than 40 cities during the run, which winds down in late November. Dates are below.


Tech N9ne's most recent studio release, "Killer," hit stores in July. The 32-track, 2-CD album features guest shots from Paul Wall, Scarface, Kottonmouth Kings, Ice Cube and many others, along with production from David Sanders II, Matic Lee and Wyshmaster. among other talents.
The rapper recently told hip-hop news site Ballerstatus.com that he was already working on his next album, due for release next year. The set, which currently boasts the title "Sickology 101: The Study of Being Sick," will again feature a wide variety of guest performers, according to the interview, including, Tech N9ne hopes, Jay-Z.
"I'm sending one to Jay-Z," he said. "I don't know if he'll do it, but I'm sending it to him because I hear him on it."
The Kansas City-based rapper started his Strange Music label with businessman Travis O'Guin in 2001, with the pair initially signing a distribution deal with Jcor Entertainment to release Tech N9ne's major league debut, 2001's "Anghellic," with the backing of Interscope Records.
