since we are rapidly approaching 2k11, whats everybodys' views on the state of rap in the BAY and northern CALI now?? i think the gap between the bay and LA has been closed...mostly becuz a lacc of legitimate deals 4 either region. there's a lot of solid indie music going around tho. i support any WEST COAST movement...time 4 more unity and support and less competitiveness and hatred.
(i still aint bumpin no LIL B or none of this fag swag shit)...but good music sells, and bad music makes whole regions look BAD!!

The West Coast is in a good place. Since deals are far and in between I think artist are making music for US and not trying to get a deal and making music for the industry

I agree. For the first time in a long time I like as much So. cal music as I do Nor cal and valley music. I think california as a whole is back to making cali music for the most part. That Mobb sound is back that So cal gangsta sound is back and the lyricism and slapping ass beats are back. Its gangsta and mobb and still having somthing to say. I would like to hear some more story telling type music come back though. Kind like that old Ghetto Flight or rescue 911 where the songs played out like movies. Your speakers were your theater.

L.A. music has been terrible for some time now IMO.....The music industry is pretty much dead anyway so I can't really see mainstream music getting any better....But underground has always been what I tuned in to so it really doesn't matter to me......

I'm only really feeling a few from each region, I think Jay Rock working with Tech N9ne will really help things. Much more so than anyone being signed to a major like Bobby Brackins, I don't see that kid getting too far. That Strange Music deal brought Lynch back from the dead basically. Like Tay said, put the ego's aside and start eating together. Let's see more collab albums & projects. Also, enough with the mixtape rappers like Nipsey & Crooked-I, there's isn't really anymore room for gangsta music in the mainstream. I was reading a review of that bullshit wacka flocka album and they said it would most likely be that last "gangsta rap" album on a mainstream label. Obviously that is not no real gangsta rap, just some ignorant noise hiding behind a red rag.

Yeah tho, collabs will open up rappers to each others fanbase, look at the Devilz Rejectz cd's. Jacka is now well known in Akron & Ampichino has a big fanbase in the Bay Area from just making good music together.

Personally I been feeling some of Nipssey hustles music as well as Jay roc. I actually think Glasses Malone is also dope. Crooked I is always holding it down as well as Mitchy Slick who IMO doesnt get enough recognition.

Honestly to me personally hardcore rap died when Eazy and Pac passed. I really only fallow artist that I respect like Lynch, Tay and his Gorilla Gang establishment. And others I grew up listening to. As far as new cats I really don't pay them any mind. Unless a tracc of theirs really catches me off gaurd like Ya Boy. Or the C-Way cats they really impressed me. There is a lot of new talent out there but you have to go through all the bullshit music to get to it. So I mostly I still bump old shit. I dont even own an Ipod. I still wear dickie suits. Guess my head is stucc in the 90's lol...

personally im feeling where the music scene is at in Cali at this moment....all the artists I like been putting out new hot shit and even the veterans have definitely stepped it up. good time to be from Cali imo but not everyone will agree. i also like that everyone is doing more visuals. this is the digital age and we need to keep up. more vids, free downloads etc is what u need to create buzz now.
