Man. I been wanting to get into the Talkbox thing for a while, but never knew what the deal was with them. I looked at a few on eBay and online some other places. But can someone tell me exactly how you work one with a keyboard? I seen that dude in one of the videos posted was working through a Triton. Can anybody give me some information on this?
yeah but dont be fooled..he probably is just using the triton as a midi controler.cause the dx100 has lil keys...or uses a tx81z rack. The yamaha dx100 was used by roger and the tx81z is basically a dx100 in a rack.
You need a talkbox-not all are created equal
you need a dx100 or the equivelent, and the patch for the sound programed..although you can still use some other keyboards...though Ive used everything from a moog voyager to a motif to triton.....my best sound was fromthe dx100,and a tx81z and you can get these for about $50
you need a small P.A. amp or guitar amp....i had a fender frontman 15w....too big an amp will blow the talkbox
In a nutshell you run a 1/4 inch cable from your keyboard out...into the amp in...then run a cable from the out jack on the amp into the talkbox....so your signal from your keyboard is amplified and when you play the keys the sound travels up the tube and you basically mouth the words....its not a vocoder you dont actually use your voice....just talk with no sound coming out your mouth
this is it in a nutshell however besides practice the type of talkbox the type of amp and the tweaking of patches all play an important roll in the sound......If you are interested..when you ready I know someone thats an expert ...one of the best I know and he makes a custom talkbox...better then anything on the market and he will help you until you get it right...Talkbox is this guys life....
