SUPPORT GEORGIA PRISONERS STRIKE

CNN HQ in NYC - 59th St & 10 Columbus Circle

(Subways A, B, C, D, 1)

Tell CNN: “Cover the prisoners’ demands of the largest

prison strike in U.S. history.”

For over week, since December 9, 2010, thousands of Georgia prisoners have refused to work, stopped all activities and locked down in their cells in a peaceful protest for their human rights. It is urgent to support this heroic act of resistance to inhuman prison conditions and racism.

CNN headquarters is based in Atlanta Georgia. CNN, owned by Time Warner, is one of the largest media conglomerates in the world. As of Dec 16, CNN and most of the major corporate media has censored this historic struggle for human rights. Demand of CNN:

STOP the censorship! Report on the Strike!

Thousands of men, from Augusta, Baldwin, Hancock, Hays, Macon, Smith and Telfair State Prisons went on strike to press the Georgia Department of Corrections (“DOC”) to stop treating them like animals and slaves and institute programs that address their basic human rights. Prisons in the U.S. are not rehabilitation centers; in reality, they are concentration camps for the poor and people of color.

The prisoners set forth the following demands:

• · a living wage for work

• · educational opportunities

• · decent health care

• · an end to cruel and unusual punishments

• · decent living conditions

• · nutritional meals

• · vocational and self-improvement opportunities

• · access to families

• · just parole decisions

While the prisoners were non-violent, the DOC violently attempted to force the men back to work—claiming it was “lawful” to order prisoners to work without pay, in defiance of the 13th Amendment’s abolition of slavery.

Inmate leaders, Black, Latino, white, Muslim, Rastafarian, Christian, have united together and vowed to strike until their demands are addressed. Together, using cell phones they coordinated this state-wide prison strike.

CNN, other media and elected officials have already received thousands of email messages of concern from an internationally circulated petition: www.iacenter.org/prisoners/gaprisonstrikepetition

Sign the petition, attend the emergency demonstration and help spread the word of support and solidarity with the Georgia prisoners strike

I think murderers deserve to be in prison
depends on the situation i think

like if someone killed your best friend just to rob them and you found out who it was that killed them, you'd wanna murder them right? and if you did murder them would you deserve to go to prison?

but then on the other hand if someone kills another person for no good reason or murders an innocent child for example then i believe they deserve punishment whether that be a prison sentence or otherwise

it's an age old moral dilemma but highlights the ignorance of the OP for believing only sex offenders should be punished

too bad not every state in the country recognizes killing/stopping an intruder or attacker, as self defence

plus, regardless of what these people did, we all know there are innocents among them, not all of them belong behind bars, lets not forget most criminal cases in this country involve non violent crime, so ina way, these inmates do deserve better treatment, just imagine urself locked up cuz you were doing what it takes (in a man made system) to survive and feed you and yours...

whats wrong with asking for better nutritional food? or no cruel and unusual punishment?

we get our panties in a bunch over waterboarding, but we wont blink an eye to the torture we have in our own jail cells?

you don't have to get locked up in order to feed your fam..just wait in line at the welfare office or at a food bank..oh but that aint gangsta so we gotta go slang, catch cases and leave our families to fend for themselves.

first of all, im not sayin u gotta get locked up to feed ur family, retard...but once ur in, u do what u gotta do, and even if your on the outside, sometimes food stamps dont get the job done, and u do what u gotta do

second, your gonna try to tell me everyone in prison is guilty?

look, if u did the crime, then do the time, im for that and i stand by it, but ud have to be a fuckin down syndrome poster boy to think innocent people dont end up in jail (id tell my own story, but thats not the issue)

this aint about being gangsta you dumb fuck, its about inmates wanting a better living situation, nobody deserves to work for 17 cents an hour, be it in a chinese sweat shop or an amiercan prison, nobody deserves cruel and unusual punishment, and everybody deserves an education...we call every prison in this country a correctional facility and yet we dont wanna help correct these inmates?

yes.....it's murder reguardless lmao
notice i said would you deserve to go to prison

so what about in answer to Arson's question?

if somebody molested your kids, would you turn em in? or turn em in to god?
if you murdered the molester would you deserve to go to prison? by your logic you would deserve it because you're still a murderer right? but how can you think that killing a child molester means you deserve to be punished

if murder wasn't against the law (for the sake of the argument) would you still deserve a punishment then?
