Here are some newer rock groups you might like..

Interpol - They are from NYC and both of their albums are amazing IMO. I can listen to both of them front to back.

Modest Mouse - They have been around since 1994-95 but are just now getting some exposure. I like all their albums personally. They are from Issaquah, WA so they are local. You might have heard their stuff I don't know.

Schoolyard Hero's - They are from Washington too, I don't know where though. They got one album out which is really good called "The Funeral Sciences." Their songs are kind of like horror stories and are tight as fuck. They have their album at Easy Street in Queen Anne ( The lead singer is a female just to let you know, I know some people don't like female singers)

The Thermals - They have a great album out called "Fuckin-A" They are from Portland Or.

The Killers - I hated their first single "Somebody Told Me" but I listend to the album at a listening booth and picked it up. They are a pretty mellow band and what I like alot about them is the lead singer can acctually sing. They kind of remind me of The Smiths/Morrissey from the 1980's if you even know who they are LOL.

I know you like The Mars Volta alot so check out Cedric Bixler (lead singer) and Omar Rodriguez (guitarist) first group At The Drive-In. Just to warn you they are nothing like The Mars Volta but I like all of At The Drive-In's cds. They were what people call a Emo band but IMO they stood out the most ( well them and Thursday)

Thursday is a really good band as well. I only have "Full Collapse" by them and it is a great cd. I am sure Smurf can tell you more about them.

I got alot more bands if you want me to keep going when I get home.

Oh yeah and that new Jacka is a great cd too :classic: LMFAO...sorry had to rub it in Jae.

I now understand why nuttkase doesn't feel most of the stuff I suggest. Well atleast we agree on Thursday & with that being said I think you should start with Thursday. It's very hard to tell you wich Thursday CD to pick up first, you're better off just downloading a few songs and from there deciding.

If you want some hardcore music I suggest Bring Me The Horizon, Parkway Drive, Shai Hulad, or August Burns Red.

If you want something a little less hardcore and more melody then try From Autumn To Ashes, (my favorite band) Hopesfall, I Killed The Prom Queen, or Poison The Well's Opposite of December CD.

If you like Thursday then check out Funeral For A Friend, Alexisonfire, Thrice, and maybe even Finch.

If you want something that is underground even as a genre then check out some Screamo such as Circle Takes The Square, PG.99, Funeral Diner, Raein, Saetia, Ghosts, Amanda Woodward, and The Saddest Landscape. Screamo is my favorite genre but it isn't for everyone, it's rather poetic & experimental. Alot of instrumental calms instantly followed by insanely complicated breakdowns. And lets not forget most of the bands have 2 vocalists going off at once.

If you want just some instrumentals to relax to then check out M83, Red Sparowes, Ghost & Vodka, Explosions In The Sky, & Sigur Ros.

If you want some straight emo to listen to then try The Blue Hour, Saosin, Last Days Of April, Shutterfly, or Northstar.

As for goth music if you want goth goth then try Jack Off Jill, Scarling, Switchblade Symphony, Black Tape For A Blue Girl, Mira, Xandria, or Poison Black. (and of course THE CURE!!!!!)

If you want industry goth then go with Collide, Razed In Black, Oghr, Skinny Puppy, or Tweaker (chris vernne sp? of NIN)

For Death Metal, Opeth, Katatonia, My Dying Bride, Sirenia, or Dead Blue Sky (emo mixed with death metal)

and lastly if you want pop music then try Story Of The Year, Evanescence, Strata, Chevelle, HIM, Cradle Of Filth
What... emo mixed with death metal lol. Maybe you mean Doom Metal. It all depend's on what your looking for most Hip-Hop head's listen to alternative and emo, but If you give a little more description on what you wan't I'll be glad on listing and maybe uploading a few songs/bands.

so what did you download? what did you think?
Man...i tried pretty much every band you threw at me on Limewire...but i could only get a hadful of those bands to come up with any material...ive heard Thursday before...i didnt like their latest album...but thier older shit is good..even though thier lead singer gets on my nerves at times...ive heard OF Shutterfly...but never heard they material...im not really into speed/death metal..i tried to stomach that Cradle Of Filth but just couldnt hang...some of the "emo" that i COULD get wasnt what i expected...the Last Days Of April seems more punk than emo(damn those Swedes)...but yeah...alot of those bands i couldnt even find...but ill keep searchin...

GRACIAS!!!

Have you heard Hed pe's newest shit? Have you ever listened to their older shit such as the "Broke" Album? If not you best peep that too. They are my favorite band as of right now.
Album: Only In Amerika
Good shit... a must have, an Album you can listen to in its entirety.
Recommended Songs: All of them, but here's a few to start "Represent" "Awake" and "Raise Hell."

Or how about Slipknot's newest shit?
Album: Vol. 3 Subliminal Verses
Good Album, much different from the self titled and Iowa Albums
Recommended Songs: "Vermilion Pt. 1 and Pt. 2" "Duality" "Circle" (notice how there is no drums in this all acoustic song, very relaxing to the ears).

Other bands I listen to are: Godsmack, Primer 55, Korn, Fear Factory, Pantera, Metallica, Ministry, Alice In Chains, Ra, Soulfly, Skindred, Mudvayne, Deftones, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, all kinds of shit.
