Marion "Suge" Knight was arrested Friday for allegedly violating his parole when officials got word that the rap mogul had been accused of punching a parking valet.....
The California Department of Corrections arrested Knight around 6 p.m. after learning of a June 21 LAPD report on the altercation. Details on the incident were not available at press time. It is the second time in less than a year that Knight has been arrested for allegedly violating his parole. He was taken to Los Angeles County Jail for booking, where he is being held pending a court hearing to determine whether his parole will be revoked. The California Board of Prison Terms has up to 45 days to hold the hearing; the Department of Corrections estimates that the hearing will happen in the next 30 days. "We'll treat him like any other parolee," a department spokesperson said. "We'll get to him in due time." No bail was set because bail is not an option in parole violations, according to a spokesperson for the California Board of Prison Terms. Knight originally received probation in 1992 for weapons and assault charges. He was found guilty of breaking that probation in 1996 after security cameras in a Las Vegas casino showed him committing an assault. Knight served nearly five years for the violation and was released on parole. He served another two months earlier this year after the state prison board found that he had associated with a known gang member, violating a parole condition that he not socialize with anyone involved with a gang. Knight's spokesperson could not comment on the arrest. Calls to two of Knight's lawyers, Robin J. Yanes and David Chesnoff, were not returned.
