Director Zack Snyder leaves his guy-heavy 300 in the ancient dust with his girl-powered Sucker Punch.
The surreal, hyperviolent fantasy stars Vanessa Hudgens, Emily Browning, Jena Malone, Jamie Chung and Carla Gugino as ferocious loony-bin inhabitants who unleash their wildest fantasies as subjects of a bizarre psychological experiment.
Malone, who plays Rocket (pictured below), said Saturday at a Comic-Con International panel, "People in this genre sometimes create one-dimensional characters, but in Sucker Punch not only do we get to do kick-ass things and wield amazing weapons -- we also get to play intricate human beings."
These new character posters offer a look at the fierce women of Sucker Punch, slated to open March 25.
Emily Browning stars as Baby Doll, who is forced to take part in asylum mind games after her parents die.
Jamie Chung plays Amber, who befriends newcomer Baby Doll when she arrives at the Lennox House asylum.
Australian actress Abbie Cornish portrays Sweet Pea.
Teen idol Vanessa Hudgens breaks type to take on the character of Blondie.
Carla Gugino, who also appeared in director Snyder's Watchmen, plays Madam Gorski. She's the resident psychologist who doubles, Gugino says, as a "dominatrix-influenced choreographer."
