Why get a mac if you only running an Mbox..It is my understanding that the MBOX is limited in tracks..even though for many it is enough, but that being said I would save money by buying a P.C. and spend about $1500 on a MiC pre, About $500-$1000 on a Mic and any sound treatment. This leaves you roughly about $1000 for an interface. This is just a rough idea...with out knowing more details its hard to say, who knows he may only need a cheap M audio sound card a decent computer and budget mic.

What do you have right now?

What type of sound are you going for?

What are the dimensions of the room you'll be recording vocals in?

Do you plan to add on to your equipment or possibly do beats within the next 2 years?
I HAVE NOTHING RIGHT NOW. STARTING FROM SCRATCH. THE ROOM IS 15 X 18 FEET. AND I DONT PLAN ON DOING BEATS FOR A WHILE.

I'd look into the lexicon omega interface to use with your mic of choice. a pair of hs80 monitors and a program that u like. I am not anti pro tools but i wouldnt buy it unless it was really what i wanted. once ur ready to get into the beats u gotta get a mpc and and reason

explain why or why not? mpcs are the sh*t reason is the sh*t. sounds like a win win to me. rewire reason into the daw of your choice and sequence on the mp.
Simply because you don't "gotta" get anything others than what you feel comfortable working with. If an mpc is your thing great. If reason is your thing great. If a keyboard workstation is your thing great. If a program with vsts is your thing great.

Reason is the shit. Good sounds good fx.
Great price. The secret to makin reason sound offical tho is in makin ur own sounds in the combinator. If u can't do that I can understand the frusteration.
