Dayum i been watchin them And 1 Mixtapes and them fools is CRAZY!!! What yall think about the skill of these players (most of them i believe dont WANT to play in the NBA) vs the skill of the players in the NBA?

I thought that these players got more skill then like 90% of the NBA. Rafer Alston AKA. Skip to my Lou on the Toronto Raptors is fucken heat!!!, peep some of his shit in his streetball games. I peeped an article about him like 4 years ago i believe and he done had respect from hella NBA players (Stephon Marbury, Grant Hill...). This was in SLAM magazine and the title of the article, also on the front page was "The best point guard in the world...you've never heard of"

We have all talked about this before. No they are not better then 90% of the NBA, Rafer Alston, my boy out of Fresno State is a baller. Given the chance, almost everyone of those and 1 players would take an NBA contract. If you watch enough "plays of the week" on espn, you will see the same shit, except against professional players. Look at it like this, what if you took AI, Kobe or McGrady, and put them on the streets with these cats, they would be amazing. For street level cats though, some of them are VERY under-rated and can ball like a muh'fuckah. This is the most playing time Alston has ever seen since coming to the NBA, ive been following him since his arrival. Hes turning into a pretty good guard for the NBA.

yo man peep this. AI, Kobe all those dudes come down to the courts in NYC on Summer or watever the fuck. They be playin games wit tha streetballers. Thats why they gots hella respect for them cuz they know what those crazy ass fools can do. Peep some shit from that Slam mag i was talkin bout:

"As freshman at Cardozo, he scored 18 points in 11 minutes in a game against Lincoln HS"

"He's caught me. I aint gonna lie. When youre playing against Rafer Alston, youre liable to get embarassed. You know its gonna happen." Stephon Marbury

"Julius Erving has run here; The Hawk, The Goat, The Helicopter, Joe Hammond, too. Iverson, Steph, Kobe everyone drops by during the summer."

Right now, although im a big Rafer Alston fan (have been for years) he is not equipt for the NBA, atleast not completely. He has bounced around from different teams, its not so much that he cant play, its just that hes not showing that he deserves the spot over anyone else. This cat does have the potential to be shaped into a solid guard given the right coaching. His first year in the NBA, he struggled hard, he couldnt make the transition from street to pro. His second and third year he combined to start for 9 out of 87 games, registered very little playing time. This year he has shown some improvement. His first few games back in the NBA, playing for the raptors, he got 17-5-3, 12-6-8, 13-4-11 (pts-rbs-ast). After that he has been puting up mediocre numbers. What im really saying is he CAN be a good player, but right now I wouldnt consider him a factor on any team. I wish the best of luck to him though.

If you watch the And 1 series on ESPN at all you will see that a lot of those cats are just out for themselves, and havent caught on to the "Team" way of thinking. They interviewed the one dude that said Tarkanian's son gave him a ticket to go tryout for Fresno state and he cashed it in cuzz he didnt want to go to practice and do drills. Its fun to watch, but so are the Globetrotters with fat ass Cedric Cebalos

On one of the And 1 Mixtapes (I think #2) they show a clip or two of Rafer Alston in the NBA trying to do that acrobatic shit, takin 4 steps, the announcers were clownin. Hes still learnin the game from an NBA prospective.
