hooli's right on point. There is definately a political agenda here. When Bush pushed that omnibus spending bill a couple of months ago (which also cut mandatory overtime pay as well and deregulating divulging the meat we eat's country of origin), it overturned an already rejected congressional descion to permit the FCC to allow the further monopolization and consolidation of major media outlets to 3 companies. Meaning all the news and public exchange of ideas though radio and TV media are controlled by right wing wacko's w/ money out the yinyang to keep it that way. As soon as Stern spoke against Bush & other contemperary policies he was removed by clearchannel (a constituent and big campaign contirbutor to the Bush admin, but can you wonder why when the admin. will let them buy as many stations as possible, you'd back 'em up too). Bottom line is our civil liberties are on the line, as well as the enviornment, educational system, legal system, economy, blah blah blah...
Sick wit' it, I agree people do need to be governed, we do a lousy job of it ourselves. However, the government should govern us not telecommunications companies, ins. companies, credit companies, and other huge corporations. (Don't get me wrong, b/c people and business should maximize profits to the fullest, however everyone should fullfill their civic social responsibilities as well)
Respect
oh yeah and FUCK BUSH
