news10.net - Two people and a dog were injured this afternoon during a shooting in southeast Stockton.
Two deputies accompanied code enforcement workers to a house in the 2700 block of Numfor to check on a report of unsafe living conditions. When they arrived, deputies said they saw a resident inside the house run toward the back, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department spokesman Les Garcia. One deputy headed to the back of the house and one deputy stayed in front.
Garcia said a Rottweiler-mixed breed dog in the house advanced toward the deputy in the front and the deputy fired his service weapon, striking the dog in the paw.
During the incident, a mother and a young child were wounded, possibly by bullet fragments, although that has not been confirmed. Their injuries are not life-threatening, said Garcia.
The identities of the individuals involved have not been released.
