I'm sittin here watchin him as Cadet Mahoney in the classic Police Academy ("Sleeping is for fags") and remember him back in the day in Police Academy 2 , Cocoon, Short Circuit, 3 Men and A Baby. Dude had potential in my opinion..now he's fat as fuck balding doin straight to dvd movies like Major Movie Star with Jessica Simpson. Do you think these actors that had potential just fuck it off and get lazy or is the movie biz just not lookin out for well rounded actors anymore. In my opinion he had potential to be better than where he's at today....thoughts????

Steve Guttenberg is an actor whose career peaked early. He did his best work in Diner with Kevin Bacon and Daniel Stern, and later played Officer Carey Mahoney in the first four Police Academy movies. He also starred in Cocoon with Brian Dennehy and a cast of old all-stars, Short Circuit with Ally Sheedy, and Three Men and a Baby with Tom Selleck, Ted Danson. Guttenberg's career has been in an unending slump to oblivion since the sequel, Three Men and a Little Lady in 1990, after which he disappeared from movies for five years. He returned to the big screen with a supporting role in Jodie Foster's Home for the Holidays in 1995, but has appeared in nothing particularly noteworthy since. Some say he owes his entire career to the Stonecutters.

Jeff Goldblum is in some big movies every few years, and even became the star of one of the Law and Order shows recently. C. Thomas Howell did fall off the face of the earth though.
