90's babies, you may not know about this store that was on McKee & Capitol in EAST SAN JOSE. It played a HUGE part in the Northern California music scene. Any and ALL major artists on major labels made it a point to come to this store, they had to "check in" and the store had a wall full of photos to prove it.. I met Ice T and Turbo from breakin there back in the days. I met JJ Fad there, DJ Quik, etc...the list goes on and on...on any given day you could bump into your favorite bay area rapper/artist in there since the owner usually dealt with the artist DIRECT...

LL Cool J has been here, Redman and Method, Eminem, Bone Thugs... I mean EVERYBODY.... No matter if you were a world famous artist/rapper, or the neighborhood dude just in ther tryin to put your shit on consignment, Adrian gave you love, and treated all equally.....Just as much as the show Home Turf is part of the Nor. Cal music scene, so is Star MUTHAFUCCIN Records....

Man those were the good ol days! 1992 barely getting my license, puffing on a Vega, cruising down Capital Expressway in my 66 Caprice to hit up Star Records! I miss those days!! I bought & still have many many classic albums both on cassette & cd! 2002 is when the doors closed for good & I can honestly say I'm still upset.

I still talk to adrian and kathy, they are good friends of mine and are completely out of music and have been for years since filing bankruptcy at star.

I'll always love this store cause they showed my lil wet behind the ears alot about the game and how to try and sell a cd in a store and what it takes.

Yeah, Homie. As a matter of fact I remember calling PlayaRae for directions to Star Records as I got into the San Jose area. Good lookin' on PlayaRae for that still.
