I got a speeding ticket on wednesday here in L.A. off I-5 near Valencia. 90 MPH in a 65. Never had any tickets other than parking and I have a few questions if anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

1. How much can expect the fine to be?
2. Since I was 25+ over the speed limit could a reckless driving charge be added on? If so when would they tell me that? On the ticket?
3. How would I go about asking the judge to lower the fine? (oviously I would need to appear in court, but what should I plead. No contest? then ask for a lower fine since Ima starving college student.. LOL)

Any help would be much appreciated siccness.. Can't believe this is my first speeding ticket as much as I drive I-5 back in forth to the bay speeding like rick ross..

I dont know about LA but in the bay sometimes they will lower the speed on the ticket. if not you have a few choices.
1)fight it! in my experience the cop doesnt show up to court N you win. no charge!
or
2)depending on the judge they wont want to waste time with another hearing, and tell you in court if you pleed no contest they will chop the fine by half, but you wont know that till the court date.
again thats jus my experience up here in the bay so good luck!

yeah, doesn't make sense.

1) $200+
2) no
3) you're fucked
And, these answers sound about right. The ticket the cop gave you would have reckless driving on it. Does it?

Also, if you can prove youre struggling, then I believe you can pay the fine in payments. But, if you fuck off one the payments, then they will go bck to charging you all at once.

And, yeah...wtf? You found a guy that'll pay your ticket for $99 when the shits gonna be $200+? Better jump on that. Sounds too good to be true...

regardless of how much it is you can setup a payment method, they're pretty leniant on the amount u have to pay a month. I would fight it tho, just show up on ur court date, if he shows up, plead guilty and setup your payments in person, if the cop aint there then you don't pay or they reduce the amount.

wait til the very last day that the fine is due, usually its about 30 days go to the courthouse and ask for an extenstion, they will give you 30 days. In 30 days go back and say that you wanna have a hearing and see a judge. They will give you a court date about 30 days from that point. So by the time your court date is set, its been about 3 months since the incident. You have a good chance that the cop aint gonna show up and you automatically win and pay nothing......

I didn't read the replies, so I'm not sure what everyone wrote.

I don't know how shit works over there, but here, if you're 20 over the speed limit, thats wreckless driving. Also, make sure you ask in court if they have papers or proof they tested the radar/speedometer (can't think of the actual name of the device to get your speed at this moment) that morning, because here in Va. the cops have to test it each day before they begin their shift to make sure its working correctly. If they didn't test it, they'll throw your case out.

Not sure but last time I asked for an extension on the day the fine was due after already asking for an extension, they wouldn't let me get a court date, I had to write a letter to the judge.

It might be different county to county, My plan for the next one is to wait till the last day, set a court date, then schedule another court date.

FUCK THE POLICE FUCKIN PIG ASS BITCH GAVE ME A TICKET FOR "ROLLING THROUGH A STOP SIGN! THERE WERE HELLA CARS AT A 4 WAY STOP SO THERE WAS NO WAY POSSIBLE. I HOPE THE BITCH DIES!!!!!!

Traffic fines are usually set by the city so whatever juristiction you got caught in would be the one that would be fining you. So it's hard to give you an accurate amount.
