OK so I created my own account....now how do I upload songs? When I add a playlist it adds folders.

you may have fucked up like I did and register yourself as a listener not an artist. I did that and now I can't create another account and can't seem to be able to switch to an artist either!

Just create a band.

I registered my "band" after I'd already registered as a listener, should be able to in your setup screens. Make sure you read that license/use agreement and understand what you're working with before you jump head first into it.
