Dreams of Apollo tour do come true for 14 locals

SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER STAFF

Fourteen performers and performing groups have been selected to appear in the Amateur Night at the Apollo tour coming to Seattle.

The 14 were among 341 who auditioned Sunday at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center.

From the 14, one will be selected to travel to New York and perform at Harlem's Apollo Theater, where the careers of such legends as Ella Fitzgerald and Tony Bennett were launched.

Those picked were: Claudette Hatcher (belly dancer); Michael Wastman (singer); Bosco and Selena (singer/guitarist); Kutcrome a.k.a. Sonny Bonoho (rapper); Turf! (urban dance troupe); Leah Vladowski (singer).

Also Anzanga Marimba Ensemble (African marimba); 1's Ulove2H8 (hip-hop dance); Old School Fellas (singers); Jason Turner (singer); Fahim Anwar (Afghan American stand-up comic); Jay Townsend (singer); Wendy Wash- ington (singer); Sheena Brown (singer).

The 14 will appear at the Paramount Theatre on Feb. 1 at 8 p.m.

God bless yall for your support. My performance @ that show will be all of our energy stick together to win this, so that I can go to NY & perform in front of the world & let them know that this corner pocket of this state have mad blessed talent. This would definately open so much doors for all of us. Bonoho

every Seattle rapper producer and fan needs to come to this and support Sonny we need
to show the apolla that Seattle has a CRACKIN rap/hip hop scene and that we support
eachother we need like 50 or more heads in the crowd just going wild while Bonoho is on
stage rockin it no excuses yall dont only come for Sonny but come support local rap and hip hop
lets get it craaaaaaaaaaackin yall.....
