No, I'm speaking from experience of going to several (at least 10) states throughout my life in this country and talking to people that live there. If you haven't experienced it, than I am happy for you. But I don't think you can really tell me what I've done or talked about with people.
And what does it matter really, if the Sonics leave? Is your life that adversely affected that you can't go on anymore? Do the Sonics give you a hard on? I mean seriously, when you think about your LIFE, what do the Sonics really matter? It's JUST sports. If you wanna start a foundation for their new WORLD-CLASS ARENA, then by all means, GO FOR IT. But whining about the fucking Sonics leaving, when they have DEMANDED A WORLD CLASS ARENA (and haven't done shit to prove they deserve it), is just not logical to me.

People have to understand...Seattle is made of people who MOVED here in the 90's during the "dot.com" era....once that all blew over...alot of them stayed here due to the city being mild-weathered and beautiful.That being said...these people ALSO bring there love of THEIR home teams with them.Thats why during the BoSox series this weekend with the M's....you saw a SHITLOAD of Boston fans(not to say there arent people born & raised here that like other teams)...
Seattle is a casual,easy-going town....we have ALOT of bandwagon fans...the M's are a perfect example....there are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too many "casual fans" at these games....thats why i refuse to go...
I luv the Sonics....been with em since X-Man and Chambers...stuck with em when Kemp left and was pissed when they lost to the Bulls in '96....even when Gary left...i was there...when Ray came in and now we have a team full of young kids waitin to become stars....ive seen a half a dozen coaches come and go....thats MY squad and i support them no matter what...
Its not that "Seattle" DOESNT support our team....is the fact that there are too many people here that dont really care wether they stay or leave....and the die hard fans are so distraut about the last decade that the owners have SPOILED this teams name....we are frustrated....and now this???
Howard and his investment group wanted to make a buck...well he did...and this new investment group is just a bunch of liars....they said they wanted to keep the Sonics here...and THEN they used some sorry excuse and said maybe they should leave....they dont understand WHY the fans are so mad....
Fuck em....ill be there rootin for em again next year....

That's no lie. I was at Saturday's game, and I SWEAR it got louder when the Sox did somethin than the Mariners....Not to mention the people there have no fucking manners, some cock sucker knocked over my drink, looked at it, then walked away after I said "thank you, you fucking prick."
Anyway, I saw more red than I did blue at the game.
Naw you can't question the significance of something that gathers 13,000 - 17,000 people (in the case of basketball) to the same spot pulling for the same thing 41 times a year (in the case of basketball). There is nothing that even approaches professional sports when we're talking about a way to unify a city.
The win-loss thing simply doesn't matter, first of all b/c by demanding the winning first, that gives the town a bandwagon name, that's an awful stigma. Secondly, you're overlooking the fact that they were one of the 5 winningest franchises from 1990 - 2000. Yeah this millenium it's been dogshit, but that's what happens sometimes when there's 28 other teams trying to do the same thing you are, that's why sports are cool b/c not everybody can be good.
And the citizens do have to pay for it, that's a fact that's been established time and time and time again. It's just a matter of who, and I'm saying fuck the city, I'm pulling for Renton or Bellevue to nut up and build something.
