how much money you got? you can pick up a used tdm system for about 6k plus youll need a host computer mac or pc, any speed above 266mhz is fast enough for tdm cuzz it runs on its own processor,

digi001 systems run around $800.FOR A SYSTEM ,PLUS YOU NEED A HOST, I USE A MAC G-4 THEY START AT $1600 for a 867 double processor ,as far as pc i think you can find them for around $500 on up, one thing to keep in mind about digi001 is that the speed of your computer determins how many effects plugins you can use to mix with. you get 32 tracks with digi001 tdm you can expand it to over 200 tracks if you got the cash

^^^^ I WOULD RUN IT ON A MAC INSTEAD OF A PC.

AVALON PRE AMP $700-800

FOR MICS YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO THE BLUBERRY MICS,AKG'S RODE'S AND NUEMANS (WHICH YOU WILL MOST LIKELY END UP GETTING).

I DONT KNOW WHERE YOU PLAN TO SET YOUR MONITORS AT BUT IF YOU ARE GOING TO PLACE EM NEAR THE COMPUTER MAKE SURE THEY ARE MAGNETICALLY SHIELDED. YOU MAY LOOK INTO BI AMPED MONITORS AS WELL. BASICALLY THAT MEANS THAT THE AMP IS BUILT IN SO YOU DONT NEED TO MATCH OHMS AND WATTS ETC ETC ETC WITH AN AMP.

BI AMPED MONITORS:

MACKIE HR 824 $1000-1200
MACKIE HR 624 $950-1150
EVENT TR-5 $300
EVENT TR-8 $500
BEHRINGER B2031 $400

UNPOWERED MONITORS:

ALESIS MONITOR ONES $200-$300
EVENT 20/20 $200-$300

HAFLER AMP $350-400
ALESIS RS150 $$200-250

TANNOY MAKES NICE MONITORS ALSO AND SO DOES GENELEC. DONT SKIMP ON THE MONITORS. EACH PERSON WILL HAVE THEIR OWN OPINIONS IN REGARDS TO MONITORS. GO ACCORDING TO WHAT YOU HEAR AND LIKE. ROOM ACOUSTICS WILL PLAY A FACTOR IN THE SOUND YOU GET ALSO.

:h:

PS I IDDNT KNOW THAT THE MOONSHINE BANDITS WERE WHITE UNTIL LIKE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. GOD BLESS.

Booza,

You might think about getting an extra (dedicated) hard drive for your audio. If you've got your audio files on a second drive, data transfer is much better and windows processes operating behind the scenes cause "fewer" problems. Also, if for some reason the PC craps out... the audio drive most likely won't be affected. Internal drives are cool, but I've heard that scsi or firewire drives are better. FYI, drives that spin at 7200 rpm's are better suited to handle audio data (wav/aiff etc). Most pc's ship with drives that spin at 5400.

Make sure you've got a good backup system too because PC's are prone to crash, and you don't want to be sitting there with a dead system and nothing to restore the files from... trust me on that one.
