ok, shit, where to start.

as many of ya'll may or may not know, for the last number of months i have been workin with JT the Bigga Figga with Get Low Records/Black Wall Street. I came into the rap game/music industry with little knowledge and now I feel like a vet (even tho theres tons of shit i still have to learn of course). Off the bat, I have to say I couldn't have had a better teacher/mentor/boss than JT no bullshit. As Brandon (b12) said, this is THE hardest working man in the bay area rap scene hands down. who else do you see consistently working with MAJOR artiists such as DAZ, JUVENILE, SNOOP, tha OUTLAWZ, and more? And for whatever ya'll say about the man's ethics or what not (the most common complaint being that he recycles songz) i have to tell ya'll JT is REAL peoplez who has much love for his fans and supporters.

during the summer i had the chance to become acquainted with many of the people on this board and other industry cats as well, (off tha top of the head namely my nigga Telly Mac, Devoe, Theeda Weeda & all the Mac Blocc homiez, SHEMP, B12er, Rob NO Kneez, Quinn, Mess, 4tay, Don P,One Drop Scott, Sean T, etc, etc...) and I gotta give it up to these folx as well and give them props for the great work they do entertaining ya'll

maybe you've figured this out by now or maybe you haven't, but over the last month or so JT and I have gone off on different paths, pursuing different goals. not to say i'm not fucking with him anymore, bt that our relationship these dayz is a lot more limited..

from here i'm not really sure where i'm going i guess, tho i just met up with the homie Fat Ratt and 4tay and I guess I'm gonna be helpin them out with local distribution on his newest album Gangsta Gumbo. other than that I'm just tryin to take a step back I guess

if any of ya'll out there need help distributing your projects holla at me cause i got all the connects on stores, promotion, pressing, anything you can really think of

in short, i truly consider myself blessed to have experienced all of this and to learn the music industry inside out. like i said above, i came into this shit from workin @ starbux, and came out of it with so much knowledge and game b/c of JT's tutalage. anyways much love to everybody, and sorry i know i can be flakey at times, but its just cause i have so much shit on my plate at times i get caught up...

finally, i just gotta say as peoples we all need to take an avid interest in the future of our music if we want it to be around. surely something must change (on a tangent, I walked into Sam Goody yesterday and CDS were fuckin $19.99 a pop!!!) but how so, i'm not sure. any ideas?

i'm sure i have more to write, just can't think of it right now. peace, luv and all that good shit. latez

one more thing, there are no color lines, specially in hip hop, nor age lines for that matter. shemp is a paleface, as well as b12 (no offense meant ya'll) and i'm a chink but who gives a fuck? i can honestly say that black people show me more love than whites do (in general) but on this hiphop tip we're all comin together

Crush, honestly I used to think you were a little punk when you came up on this board but you've proven to be pretty cool and you seem like a hard workin idustry cat.

Good luck in your endevors. This post shows a lot about your character and who you are. btw, if you know anything about printing costs for a newspaper/magazine type item let me know, I think I got a lot of good writing skills and editing and I think with some help from other homies I think I good put together something pretty tight.

PS a good way to drop CDs is put on the CD DONT PAY MORE THAN 13.99 for this CD Dogday did it once and it was the only 13.99 cd in the whole store.

I'm think JT is a cool cat too CrushOne, but can you tell me his reasons for his shady marketing angles? I mean recycled tracks, putting guests on that don't even appear on the cd, puttin a gang of cds out that are like done well below par what JT can really do....I mean I met JT, he's a real cool cat as a person, but lately his music has been falling off.....there was a certain point before..where I thought he was coming up again...I think when he did Family Business...I thought that cd was cool, but then all this recycled crap started coming out....

oh well, I'm rambling...anyways good luck with your future endeavors...sounds like you know where you going...you jus need to go for it now!

if you're looking to possibly work on your writing then hit up the people at Showcase Magazine. I'm sure they'd let u submit some freelance articles to be considered for publishing (don't necessicerily expect to get paid for some shit like this immediately u know?) Plus their mag is free so definitely... Plus gettin ur name somewhere is another plus for your own endeavors. Another thing i learned is that you need to establish yourself first before you take on more daunting endeavors.

I hear that. When I gdrop off cds at towers I'd rather get $8 so they're $13-14. Funny thing is the first thing I saw was a sign promoting some new albut that read SALE $16.99 and I had to laugh to myself cause thats not a fuckin sale... I hope Sam Goody goes out of business

On another note, JT pointed out the impact of the closing of STAR RECORDS the other day to me. "STAR RECORDS closing means NO MORE moms and pops stores in San Jose. The only place you can buy CDs from is Tower and Warehouse." As any fan of Bay Area music may or may not know is that Bay artists have a much HARDER time competing in large scale chain stores. The ONLY stores that support OUR music is the moms and pops!

I'm not surprised Star Records closed. I remember the last time I spoke to Adrian he was telling me about how the Chain stores (ie; Target) were undercutting his business by some rather unfair marketing tactics. Chains such as Target often sell new CDs at or even BELOW cost, to lure customers into the store. I believe it is competitive business practices such as these which were a factor in their closing up shop.

I give Showtime much credit for the way he runs his business, offering lots of independant product at reasonable prices.

One question I have is would you rather buy a double CD for $18.99 or a single Cd for $13.99?

JT spoke on this himself a long time ago, saying something to the effect of not everybody's heard everything and basically the average fan isn't expected to own each and every CD so recyclying only happens to show off some of the other music I guess? (don't quote me) I'll haveta look for the original post...

Right on B12er! You're like tha big homie in the important position. Huh, I am glad you and the artists who are on here take such an active interest in the fans cause it shows that you care about what the fans think. But if artists are gonna be on here, they should promote the site on their albums (why keep this shit a secret???)
