McConnell cited the attack on the World Trade Center shortly after Bill Clinton took over the presidency in 1993 and the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington, which occurred less than eight months after George W. Bush took the oath of office.

McConnell's comments seemed similar to those made recently by Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden, who was criticized when he suggested his running mate Barack Obama would be tested by an international crisis within his first six months in office. Biden referred to it as a "generated crisis to test the mettle" of Obama.

considering venezuelas own hugo chavez seems to be only speaking about how socialism will cure the world while iran is threatening war against israel and the us, while israel is doing the same(to iran), and north korea is threatening to turn south korea into debri in the last week. The cease fire ended in the gazaa strip this week, the us invaded syria airspace and our whole relationship with russia is crumbling. So yes, if you've read the news, it is obvious that a war is in the eminent future. Now lets get back to the important topics like gay marriage and global warming. Ah the real issues, they are serious. Its not technically terrorism that will be the major ladder to climb, rather the threat of a world war.

What McConnell & Powell said is expected, because of how the US has a power grip on the world. the coup in venezuela, the massicare in boliva, paramillitaries killing in colombia, the false reasons to the iraq war, are a few examples of this power grip.

Dont think combating terrorism with more terrorism is going to help.

supposedly a week or so before Biden made his remark, McCain and Obama were debriefed about possible attacks during the "power vacuum" when either one gets elected...........the power vacuum is when a country is most vulnerable so it makes sence............
