I honestly don't know of any artists that do that intentionally, most respected artists legitimately have a good relationship with who they are working with, deeper than just business, a family, folks, you know, people who they can trust. I am not saying it isn't out there I'm sure it goes on all the time, but credit is due when it's due and if its done right, putting your name under another labels release doesn't take any credit away from you if you do it right, all proper credits still go your way. Now when a label takes an artist under its wing for the pure knowledge of their talent and they want to make profits off that artist, strictly profits and nothing more, thats a different story, but when its family it's family.
Indeed. It takes some of the stress off the artist because they feel more secure that way. If an artist has nothing to lose, is new to the business, then it's game on, you can't mess that up, it's a win-win situation. Now on the other hand if that artists sales flop, and the label loses money, that artist may go into debt, that artist will have bills. Even though talent isn't everything, and hustle is everything, if that artist doesn't develop a base of fans and support he/she won't go anywhere, the artist not only needs good hustle, but he/she needs to be accepted by his/her community, no artist can control that, they either love you or hate you, and that makes you or breaks you it goes both ways. I believe the artists who DO need credible individuals to make something happen are in fear of what I said above. No man is an island.
pretty much i mean if you have no kinda exposure and sumone see's u got lynch or c-bo or mac dre, fuckin obie trice presentin that shit niggaz is gonna know "that cat who presentin it is on there so they might jus cop it to peep the feature and end up feelin it and coppin future albums by you as well ... so its great promo, i do find it less easy to respect an artist who has that tho and a lotta times when its SO & SO PRESENTS" tha al;bum usually is BOO-TEE.... and thats probly why it'll have sum credible artist name present it too, cuz they know its a filler ass 2 trac slumpin CD, so unless i already have heard shit from em previusly and know they heated, i prolly aint gonna actually jus gonne cop, but if i flip it over and see that it's a decent producer on there too and at least sum good song titles...
