I thought gangsta rappers that used to sell crack hated the cops?

Although his posse is being investigated by the NYPD, rebel rapper 50 Cent still has fans on the police force.
In a Daily News photograph that ran yesterday, a smiling 50 Cent appears with his arms wrapped around Sgt. John Ruiz and Police Officer Shannon Hall, after taping an appearance at MTV studios yesterday.
The photo comes as police investigate 50 Cent's posse for its alleged involvement in a shooting outside of radio station Hot 97 last week, which left one man injured.
The NYPD yesterday confirmed that Ruiz, who is assigned to the Police Academy, and Hall, assigned to Brooklyn Heights' 84th precinct, were working a paid detail at MTV while on their days off, which means they were considered off-duty at the time, according to NYPD guidelines.
"There's no violation there," one high-ranking source said. "The officers did nothing wrong. 50 Cent is a major artist and he isn't wanted for anything."
Still, the photograph raised eyebrows. Some noted that the former crack dealer was initially uncooperative in the investigation and that he has in the past pleaded guilty to more than one felony drug charge.
Officially, the NYPD had no comment.
The rapper was at first resistant when cops looked to question him after last Monday's shooting on Hudson Street, which left Kevin Reed, 20, an associate of 50 Cent's ousted protege, The Game, with a gunshot wound, sources said. Police have since stepped up their patrols at the radio station andat the building that houses Violator Management, where 50 is represented and where another shoot-out happened the same night. 50 Cent was being interviewed on the radio at the time of the shooting. There have been no arrests in that incident.
