Sinner Frost, born in Alamosa, Colorado, raised in Southwest New Mexico, and now residing proudly in the Pittsburg California, is a Chicano rap artist that has been rapping since the age of eight. Now only 19 years of age to start 2011, the young one in the game is truly picking up speed and a buzz that would catch anyone's attention. Coming from a very musical background, including a father who also did hip-hop music, and also experiencing the power of rap intertwined with the gang life, Sin, an active member of the Southwest Norteno gang, learned to write music at an early age. The lyrics started off as therapy for the troubled youth but gradually bloomed into a way to not only speak for Sin, but for Sin’s entire race.
The trip through the underground music industry began for Sin during freshman year of high school. Sin began trading rhymes with a childhood friend that led to a spot in the local talent show held annually. That talent show tore Sin apart from Sin’s partner when everyone strongly suggested going solo. Sin continued on his own, with his ex-partner and a few other old friends praying for his downfall. In 2008 he signed with Albuquerque, New Mexico-based DryveBy Muzik and planned to drop his first mixtape, but inner conflict with the label had Sin leaving just as quickly as he had signed on. Another year of solo work came to the artist until he was graciously signed to Sweet Leaf Entertainment, a record label in his own town. He would shine miraculously in that time, dropping his first mixtape and putting his name on Southwest hip-hop, but after moving to Phoenix, Arizona, production slowed down, and it seemed that the label was only looking out for itself, pushing on without its most potent lyricist. Sin escaped from the label and signed with a Phoenix-grown record label all about Arizona Pride. It started off well, Sin making a big impact in Phoenix as he was featured on nearly every song. Soon, inner conflict set in on this label as well. The CEO signed on another artist, supposedly a Sureno artist, and his problem with Sin escalated into Sin's problem with the CEO. The CEO dropped Sin, and Sin returned to New Mexico in November of 2010.
Sin's highly-anticipated mixtape "She Kissed a Thug Vol. 2" dropped on Valentine's Day 2011 despite his separation with 4XL Entertainment of Phoenix. Sweet Leaf CEO allowed Sin to record the mixtape in his studio, but after the CEO was bashed about his sound quality on the project and Sin once again took the spotlight of New Mexico, proving he was indeed the best lyricist, the CEO cut off all ties with Sin. Sin, finally tired of running around labels, began laying the foundation for his own record label, T.I.L. Death Ent., quickly signing six artists, including Big Vic Andrade, who had helped him fund the mixtape release. Now working on the debut group album as well as his own, Sin is on the verge of building the next Southwest Dynasty, and it is to be expected. Sin, refusing to sell out to the industry like his counterparts, is a lyrical genius that continues to progress in the underground rap game, significantly as a Chicano artist. Now CEO of Thizz Latin Southwest, the newest chapter of the Bay Area major label Thizz Latin (Tone Loc, J. Diggs & Mac Dre), Sin now has a stepping stone that leads to success, and it is safe to say Sinner Frost is just getting started.
