Simple setup in dropping tracks?

Curious in your opinion and what works in creating a simple setup at home to drop vocals. Like what would i need? computer, moniters, mic. etc?

A computer, some kind of recording software and interface, a mic, some monitor speakers. As simple as that.

cool edit pro, but I would suggest using protools. It comes bundled with the digidesign products. You can't go wrong with protools.

It really depends on what you trying to do...If you just wanna do some mixtapes, you can get a digital mixer something like a korg d8 or akai dps 12 you can find those under $200 dollars on ebay and Its portable and when used properly can acheive some great results.I look at it like this.If you gonna record on a computer you need a stable system, if you have one cool, software is still not cheap however Ive tried magix music maker and i liked it and I bought that a few years back for under $70 at best buy,I have nuendo right now...wich I dont even use( I dont even record on the computer) so the software sequencer is step one then you gonna want some plug ins for effects.....By the way did I mention you need a stable system?.....L.O.L. so you gotta ask yourself what you trying to do and what your expectations are....
