i was thinking of writing to some of our local representatives about introducing a bill that would require employers not to harass or dissuade employees when they call in sick to work.

I (and im sure all of u that work) am sick and tired of calling in only to be told "oh drink some juice and u'll be ok" or "man we really need you" or even " r u sure ur THAT sick?" or the ultimate classic "bro im really sick too but i still came in today"..fuck that, im tired of busting my ass only to be talked rude to in my time of need..

do u think this could be a viable bill or would it be a waste of time? Im sure it would get alot of support but im still not sure that its strong enough to succeed..

gimme ur thoughts and opinions..

waste of time.

there are already laws that an employeer cannot harrass you. If you are getting harrassed for calling in sick contact HR...or if you are union file a greivence!

i just come up with some wild shit to say when i don't feel like working(son's sick, car got broken into, flat tire.....no spare, ate taco trucks and got sick, diahrea, funeral, family emergency etc. etc.)

employers & co-workers are always going to bitch & talk shit whenever you're gone but hey that's the way this world works and there's nothing really you can do about it......but quit or complain.

i know where you're coming from.....

whenever a co-worker is gone......here comes the boss talking out his ass "well i was also sick last week and i made it in".....or "i took some tylenol and my headache went away".

You're spending too much time on the phone. Call at least an hour or two before your scheduled shift. Tell them that you cannot come in today because of your personal reason. Let them know when you will be coming back. Hang the fuck up. Most companies can't do shit about it as long as you fallow the rules and have an HR department.

scary1's right. luckily, we had this thing called PTO (personal time off) where you could call in & miss work for any reason - no questions asked.
peace to personal leave on the real!

my personal leave hours have bailed me out of many situations that alot of employers might think of firing you over

i was sick as shit for 2 months, pnuemonia then i caught a fucked up cold next month...personal leave took care of all that shit...not even my sick days..

if you have problems....always take it to hr......thats what they are there for.....if they don't have an hr.....just go to whoever above your boss, if that doesn't work...sorry for ya.....you just got to figure way around talking to them...like calling before anyone comes in(if they have an answering machine/voice mail...you know shit like that...

KILL UR BOSS THEN STUFF HIM INTO A GARBAGE CAN WHERE EVERYONE AT WORK CAN SEE HIM THEN GRAB UR CELL PHONE AND CALL HIS OFFICE AND LEAVE A MESSAGE ON HIS MACHINE TELLING HIM THAT UR CALLING IN SICK TODAY. IF HE DON'T STOP HARRASING U AFTER THAT I DON'T THINK HE'LL EVER STOP.
