Child-rape plea

A Kansas City man pleaded guilty Friday to raping and sodomizing an 11-year-old girl, the Jackson County prosecutor's office reported.

Tyrone Kendall, 30, was sentenced to life in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of forcible rape and two counts of forcible sodomy. According to court documents, the attack happened in July 2001, when Kendall lured the girl -- who was 10 at the time -- to his apartment in the 7600 block of Monroe Avenue.

Kendall was facing 19 other charges, the vast majority of them related to sodomy, but these counts were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. The other charges accused Kendall of raping and sodomizing a second child, an 8-year-old girl, over the course of a year.
