SANTA MONICA-- A television chef was arrested for trying to hire homeless people to commit murder, police said.

Juan Carlos Cruz, who formerly hosted the Food Network's "Calorie Commando" was arrested Thursday on suspicion of solicitation to commit murder, according to Santa Monica Police Sergeant Jay Trisler.

On Friday May 7th, police officers were contacted by homeless individuals who said the suspect solicited them to commit murder. The homeless people agreed to help officers in an investigation, in which Cruz revealed to officers the murder-for-hire method, where and when the individual was to be killed, and the terms of payment, Trisler said.

The victim whom Cruz intended to be murdered has been notified.

nah man, emeril and cruz were funkin cuz emeril was getting signed to death row and was working on the richard marx album, and cruz been tryin to get in the rap game for a minute....but when the pic of emeril and giada hit the news it was war, cause cruz been messin with giada on the low for years, and when emeril dropped " cook em up " and when cruz heard the track....he hit the block and tried to get his old school homies from the hood to handle bidness.
