Yeah i get them from running on concrete too much. IF thats how you got them as well, then take a break from running for like a week and then start running again on the beach or the treadmill. Also buy some better running shoes
funny thing is i never got them running the miles in PE, i got them speed walking to class since my first class was always upstairs and there was no stairs.. just this big ass ramp that went to the 2nd floor.
walk around on your heels for like 3-4 30 second intervals before and after running...i used to do this before running on asphault or concrete and never had much of a problem with shin splints...
I used to get them from running on the treadmill with some shoes that were kinda heavy but after I switched to some light nike running shoes never got them again
I've had them for like 3-4 years. I've tried everything from rest, ice, wraps, massages, more rest, changing shoes, tapeing them up while I'm playing and some of that shit works for a lil bit but then eventually I get them again. Pain ain't no joke!

You are coming down on your heels to hard. Take shorter steps. Give yourself a rest decrease your activity for a few weeks. Take some Ibuprofen an antiinflammatory dose. Then, Ice your lower legs before and after you exercise. Compress Them with a wrap.
If they reoccur go see a podiatrist he can get you some orthotics and maybe prescribe you some prednisone.
