A 9-year-old girl stabbed a Fond du Lac man in the back early Sunday as he threatened to kill her mother, according to a criminal complaint filed in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court.
The complaint charges Jason M. Fields, 27, with first-degree recklessly endangering safety, strangulation and disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $5,000 when Fields appeared in court Monday and his next court date is June 23.
Police were called to the woman’s North Peters Avenue home at 6:15 a.m. after Fields jumped on the woman’s car and broke the windshield, according to the complaint. Police left after Fields gave the woman money for the windshield and said he would leave the home for the day. The woman and Fields have a child in common.
The couple got into a fight shortly after police left and the woman’s 11-year-old son again called police. Inside the apartment, Fields is accused of strangling the woman and holding a knife to her throat, threatening to kill her, according to the complaint.
As Fields was threatening her, the woman heard Fields groan and he dropped the knife, according to the complaint. She saw blood oozing from a wound in his back and noticed her daughter was holding a bloody kitchen knife.
The 9-year-old girl told police she was not upset by the incident as she had stabbed Fields in the leg two years earlier when he also was hurting her mother, according to the complaint.
