Okay, this past weekend I made the roadtrip up to San Francisco to see the Giants vs. Dodgers. Great city, great stadium, and the fans were very hospitable.

The reason I say this is because I went to the game on Sunday, which was a celebration of the 1951 home run of Bobby Thompson. The emphasis you guys place on this home run just made you guys look so pathetic. First of all, you celebrate a fuckin' home run that took you to a World Series that you didn't even win like it was the greatest moment in Giants history. If it is, that's even more pathetic. What's even more pathetic is that you guys do not realize that his home run was only like 275 feet, little league distance. For some reason the ballpark was fucked up and only 275 for a home run. Anywhere else it would have been a single or double.

So what makes this pathetic home run that I could have hit with both hands tied behind my back any greater than the one Joe Carter hit to WIN the World Series nine years ago? Or the one Kirk Gibson hit in the 88 World Series when he was gimped? But whatever, I guess that is the only thing Giants fans have to live off of.

excuse me!!!!!!! the dodgers lost that series to the A's??? OK now, I'm a dodger fan and I believe to the best of my knowledge that the Dodgers WON that series 4-1

plus that gibson homer was off of dennis eckersley who at that time was even more lights out than mariano rivera in his prime

The pathetic thing about the Giants is that they have higher attendance than the A's, more money than the A's, but they will probably never win a world series. The A's know how to maximize a small salery and the Giants know how to attract fans. Tell me which is more important in the long run?

Late!

Maybe I should also say that Giants fans are idiots too. You seriously believe Bonds is not on steroids? You must be one easy person to fool. There's a huge difference between hitting 30 home runs in a year and hitting 70 home runs in a year. And no, we don't live off the Kirk Gibson home run. We don't have "Kirk Gibson Day" at Dodger Stadium. You can ask anybody, no matter who they are a fan of, and they will say that Gibson homer was one of the best homers ever. Any player that jumps from 30-40 home runs in a year to 50-70 the next year DEFINITELY did something during the offseason.

if i'm not mistaken the reason the homerun is so big is because it was one of the greatest comebacks of all time... i believe the giants were 10 games out of first place entering the month of september....

it ranks up there with; bonds 73, marris 62, dimaggios hitting streak, rickeys stolen base record, cal ripkens consecutive games, williams .400...

the radio call was great too.. . 'THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT, THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!'

The Dodgers don't have any legends? Oh, who were those two pitchers they used to have? Oh yeah, Don Drysdale and Sandy Koufax. But they were just average, right? Sandy Koufax only set the major league record with 382 strikeouts in a season until broken by Nolan Ryan. Kirk Gibson's home run was only a minor play. Orel Hershiser's 59 scoreless inning streak, a major leagure record previously held by Don Drysdale, was hardly recognizable. Yeah, people do get bigger later on in life. But NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, goes from 30-40 home runs a year to 70 plus. Yeah, I am gonna hate Bonds because he is cheating and tainting baseball records. It's too bad pitchers can't juice up also so they can throw 100+ miles per hour, striking out every batter. If they could, then you would definitely be saying something.

And I did not know about the 10 game comeback, but I still maintain that it was a very short home run (275 feet) that only took them to a World Series they didn't even win.

Shit , not even I knew that.

That is just ridiculous. I dont think that record will ever be broken.

Matter fact , I think its much more incredible than Bonds' 73 homers. All biases aside.

Think about it , thats like pitching 6 straight complete game shutouts. And then another 5 shutout innings. And then you finally give up a run. lol

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE SHITTING ME.

give the man some credit dogg... bobby thompson was NOT a power hitter by any means, and he hit the home run off of one of the dodgers ace's... i believe that cat (ralph branca?) was a 20 game winner that year.

this is considered one of the greatest moments in all of baseball, no one talks about how short the porch was.... snap out of it.

bad agruement.

Do you know how short 275 feet is? Shit, I can stand on home plate and piss over the fence. Anywhere else and that ball would not have been a home run. I could care less whether he was a power hitter or not, because every one hits home runs, even pitchers. But like I said, Giants fans don't have much more to be proud of.

Oh, and that Hershiser streak is fuckin' great. Drysdale held the record at 57 or 58 straight innings. That streak was during the 88 season and I don't think it will ever be broken, just like Dimaggios hitting streak of 56 games.
