I JUST WATCHED ON THE HISTORY CHANNEL ABOUT DIFFERENT SOCIETIES IN HISTORY AND WHAT THEY ACCEPTED SEXUALLY.

THEY MADE THE JAPANESE LOOK LIKE HOMOSEXUALS(CAUSE THEY WIDELY ACCEPTED A FORM OF IT PUBLICLY)
AND THE CHRISTIANS LIKE SOME BORIN' AFRAID OF SEX INDIVIDUALS.

DIDN'T N-E-BODY SEE THAT?

sex is important, i think it's good they have a show about it

my girlfriend gave me shit for watching it though, but she hates anything on TV where you might learn something other than home decorating tips

I think a society's ability to discuss sex and issues of sex and not be oppressive because of it is a sign of advancement and civility. Which is why religions are often so sheltered about sex (see your opinions of christians) because they believe in conserving the current order or returning to a more repressive less advanced day and time, rather than progressing and seeing society become more advanced and civil.

As for the homosexuality issue, it's not really a whole race or religion thing, i think homosexuality's acceptance in societies/groups is related to the level of decadence within the given society/group

If you look at ancient Greece or Rome and how decedent their societies were in the upper echelons i think that it would be comparable to the Japan you were referring to or even modern capitalist U.S.A. Also you can look at the Catholic Church and how it is openly conservative and anti-sex because it aspires for a more repressive society, yet it is so extremely decedent that homosexuality has been common place within the clergy for years upon years.

That's not to say homosexuality is accepted on a whole through the country it is a society/group issue where as in less decedent societies it is seen as less acceptable.

^I DISAgREE WITH "I think a society's ability to discuss sex and issues of sex and not be oppressive because of it is a sign of advancement and civility. I DON'T THINK IT HAS TO DO WITH ADVANCEMENT AND CIVILITY TO JUST TALK ABOUT SEX OPENLY, BUT THE FACT THAT TALKIN' ABOUT IT LEADS TO THE ACT OR LUSTFUL THOUgHTS. THE FACT THAT THE BIBLE ONLY RESERVES IT FOR MARRIAgE, IS gOOD COUNSEL CONSIDERIN' THE ILLS OF THIS SOCIETY AND REPERCUSSIONS OF IT(BABIES OUT OF WEDLOK, VINAREAL(SP?) DISEASES, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, JEALOUSY, INSECURITIES, RAPE, ETC....)

It's very important to discuss sex openly and not see it as "taboo". If people weren't so sheltered about sex, A.I.D.S wouldn't be as widespread as it is now, a lot of these dumbass kids wouldn't be having babies, etc. Talking about it makes it more acceptable, which will inform children and adolescents the ins and outs of sexual activity. How does America expect its children to take the proper precautions when they're never taught the proper precautions? I've seen parents avoid sexual questions from their kids, and it's not good. If I ever had questions about sex, my mom would answer me. I remember when I was about 8 or 9 I started reading the Kaiser health book, and having my mom get me pamphlets about STD's (in general), H.I.V and AIDS, I had little instruction booklets on how to use condoms, birth control options, all that shit. If we give our children the opportunities to read up on that stuff, the outcome would most likely be extremely positive. If it's put into your brain that you need to wear condoms, and the possible repercussions if you don't, chances are it's going to stick to you if it's learned at a younger age.

I understand where you're coming from. In my opinion though, if such information is spread throughout schools and households across the country, all we can do is TRUST our children to use it. Yes, they may go out and fuck more than they do now, but they will be educated about such activities if that's what they do. It doesn't matter, most of the time, what a kid sees or hears, the only thing that matters is their brain. What I mean by that is, it depends almost entirely on how the kid is raised, and what the parents are doing. Sure, it's easy for the government and the media to blame shootings and sex on movies and video games, but in all reality it has to do with the parenting. If parents give a fuck about their children, their children aren't going to go out and do shit at a young age, they will respect their parents wishes. When parents aren't doing their jobs, 99% of the time, that is when problems occur.

It's no question that kids are just fucking right now, they have no idea what the fuck they are doing. What can we do about that? Tie 'em up? The more restrictions you place on the child, the more they will rebel. If they're gonna fuck, they're gonna fuck...we might as well teach them something so they stop having babies as babies, and so they don't catch shit from each other.

@Faggot Commie: lmfao

@Topic: Kids raised in 1. Christian households who were 2. Homeschooled and 3. Not given sex ed were 10 times less likely to use a condom the first time they had sex. Myths like "you can't get pregnant on the first time" were rampant among this demographic.

When you are raised in a place that does not acknowledge or address sex or any other concept, your ideas about it will be mostly myths. Examples of this are the tribal religions of many African tribes. They don't believe you get sick because of sanitation, or bacteria. They believe you get sick because of witchcraft, jealousy, curses, etc.

@EDJ...how would you propose that we tackle this situation?...Personally I don't see a better alternative than educating, and keeping an open dialogue...I know when I was young, sex was talked about on the school yard, and there was a lot of myths and beliefs that turned out false...fortunately for me I had open parents, with whom I could have honest conversations with regarding sex...how would you react if say your young child came home asking about sex?

Exactly, tell them what's up.

The people who had children as children, but are grown now, have most likely learned from their mistakes. If they haven't, well, hopefully the schools are doing a better job at teaching the kids of the fuck-ups. Those of us raised by people who were open with us, should outnumber those that were raised by folks who didn't care for them. All we have to do is teach the next generation the difference between right and wrong, and educate them on what's going on in the world. Tell them that they can be wiped out if they have unprotected sex, kids are scared to death of being harmed.

Had the people in the 50's started educating their kids, life would be a lot different these days. Everything was fuckin bad in the 50's, so nobody talked about shit, and that held up for decades. Now it's finally ok to show the top of a tit on cable television. Kids in France and other parts of Europe grow up seeing naked newscasters, nudity on cable shows, and they seem to be doing fine with their sexual shit over there.

LMFAO!!! WTF???

I remember the kids that would get booted from sex ed because their parents didn't want them taking it, or because they started acting a fool in the class and laughing at the word "PENIS"...

lol, shit was funny. I remember this one CB (christian boy) who always had to leave. Shit was funny 'cuz he would get embarrassed as fuck when the teacher said you gotta go. Face would turn all red and he'd have to wait in some little room across the hall. That was in Jr. high too, so it's not like he was a little kid- he was about 14 or 15.
