So I was parked out in front of the hospital (where I work) and I was walking towards my car to grab some lip balm. When I got to it I opened my door to a fucking crime scene. My passenger window was rolled down, there was an antenna from another car bent towards the top (used to roll my window down), and a sweet interchangable screw driver. The panel under my steering wheel was ripped off and the ignition device on the oposite side of the key hole was hanging loose. And just to top it off my glove box was opened where my checkbook once rested.

Now I do have a security chip (whatever they are called) in my car, however I did not take it out. Obviously my car was not stolen. I don't know if they failed in stealing it or if I scared them off when I walked towards my car. If my car were to get stolen it would absolutely ruin me in every way possible.

My question is, am I safe with just taking out the chip? I mean, if someone were to try hotwiring my car without it, would it start up? If it is not 100% I'm going to just get an alarm. I would do it anyway but I'm not exactly shittin hamiltons these days.

AND YES I DRIVE A HONDA!

I don't know much about cars, but I drive an acura tl(made by honda), I read that the car won't start without the key because it has a chip inside of the key which lets the car know that it's okay to start. I guess it's what kind of car you have, and what features it has on it. Read your owners manual it should tell you what kind of security features it has.

year, tha newer hondas/acuras got that shit in tha key, i jus copped a 06 ridgeline. tha older ones didn't so they were HELLA easy to steal with a dent puller and screwdriver. hondas used to be tha number one stolen cars cuz they were so easy until they put them chips in. keep that chip in homie and INVEST in an alarm. fold.
