those scratch removers are gay.

I go to the used CD store I used to work at (CD WAREHOUSE) and they have this nifty industrial grade buffer that'll remove any scratches on the CD.

it pretty much removes anything except "label damage"... which is when the CD Label is all fucked up because what is actually on the CD is located under the label. If that gets scratched, youre fucked.

Alright...i have a few scratched cds and i was wondering what all you people do to fix them or what brand of scratch remover u have let me know!
as said, the using an industrial grade sander/buffer is a surefire way to get the CD playing again. I'm not sure where you're from, but if you have a CD Tradepost in your area (quite a few around MO/KS/IA) they will buff it out for you for $3. Not a bad price if it's a hard to find CD that is scratched to the point that itwon't play at all.

Those Skip Doctor that you can get at the store basically sand out faint scratches in the same way, but it doesn't come out as clean as an industrial sander/buffer. They work though, I've saved quite a few CD's using that method. However, if it's a long CD - over 70 minutes or so - I wouldn't advise using it. the way the sander works ends up making songs toward the outer edge unreadable. I can't listen to I'm A Playa in a regular CD player anymore because I Skip Doctor'd it.

When my CD's get scratched to the point where they dont play at all... I usually just piss all over 'em and throw them at middle school aged kids when they get off their bus stops. The fuckin things dont work, but im sure as hell still going to derive some entertainment from them.

This might sound weird but I actually use either toothpaste or chapstick and then rub it off with a cloth or a t-shirt. It works for me...but I can't compare it to the skip dr because I have never usd it. Either way, it is worth giving it a trybecause everyone has that shit laying around there house.

Thats somethin my boy told me a while back. Ive used that method, and it has surprisingly worked (on occasion). My personal theory on it is that it fills in the shallow scratches that would otherwise make the lens stop reading the CD. Ive never had more than my personal experience to co-sign this kids suggestion, but its not like it isnt worth a try. My other friend also said that running a flame across the surface helps disinigrate the dust that is left on the CD. When in desperation, Ill even buy a hooker for certain CDs trying to get them to work, so a lighter and/or toothpaste isnt something I would not try.
